Prince Harry could reject a meeting with King Charles to avoid a “frenzy” during his ongoing visit to the UK. A royal expert has claimed that the Duke of Sussex remains “deeply committed” to promoting his Invictus Games.
John McDermott, Caloroga Shark Media co-founder and creator of the Palace Intrigue podcast, told Sky News Australia that, just as the King decided against seeing Harry during his trip to the US in April, the prince may also avoid fitting his father into his schedule as any meeting between the two would “become the story”.
He previously explained: “The more interesting question, in my view, is what happens when the Games themselves take place next year. With plenty of advance notice, senior members of the Royal Family will have the opportunity to decide whether to attend and won’t be able to blame ‘scheduling’ for a well-announced event. Whatever they choose, that decision makes headlines.”

Meghan Markle is set to travel to the UK this week – her first visit since 2022. The Duchess of Sussex, who now resides in the US with Prince Harry and their two children, was previously going to travel earlier week, however, after her husband’s request for police protection was denied, it was revealed that Meghan and their children would not travel to Britain.
It has now, however, been confirmed that the visit will go ahead, with Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet also reportedly set to join Meghan. The 44-year-old was originally set to attend the one-year countdown event for the 2027 Invictus Games in Birmingham tomorrow, but she will no longer be in attendance.
It has been reported that Meghan, Archie and Lilibet will not be making any public appearances during their visit this week.

Prince Harry’s own team leaked details of a meeting they had with King Charles’ advisor last year, it has been claimed. In the summer of 2025, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s PR chiefs Liam Maguire and Meredith Maines were photographed with the monarch’s aide Tobyn Andreae in London.
The trio were spotted having a meeting on a balcony visible from a public park. The meeting took place at the Royal Over-Seas League near Clarence House. Photographs of the meeting were obtained by The Mail on Sunday, with the photographer pre-arranged.

Prince Archie’s little-known skill – and thousands can relate
Prince Harry has made a rare admission about his son Prince Archie yesterday, revealing what activity he enjoys. On Thursday, the Duke of Sussex stepped out at Birmingham Children’s Hospital.
During his visit, which is part of his UK trip, Harry met nurses who are part of a specialist nursing programme run by the charity WellChild – a charity Harry is a proud patron of. The duke, who quit royal life six years ago, also met children and their families at the hospital. It was in a conversation with one of these children, 12-year-old Alec Hill, that saw Harry reveal one thing his seven-year-old son loves to do.

Harry and Meghan’s secret plot to finally reunite Charles with Archie and Lilibet
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s plan to reunite Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet with King Charles appears to be going ahead. It was announced last week that Meghan, Archie and Lilibet would not join the Duke of Sussex in London due to concerns over security.
But there was no confirmation over whether Harry, 41, would be joined by his wife and children outside the capital. It was reported on Thursday (July 9) that Meghan, 44, Archie, seven, and Lilibet, five, will visit the UK this week, but they will not make any public appearances. Chris Ship, royal editor at ITV, tweeted that the visit would only consist of “private family events, away from cameras.”
The upcoming visit of Meghan and the children, therefore, paves the way for the family of four to meet the King in private. If they do come to Britain, it will be the first time Meghan and the younger Sussexes have visited in four years. He has only met Lily once before.

New blow for Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor as just 125 babies given name
Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor has suffered a fresh indignity as his first name has plunged to a record low in popularity among British parents. Official figures released by the Office for National Statistics (ONS) on Thursday show that just 125 babies were named Andrew in England and Wales last year – the lowest number on record.
The name tumbled to 334th place, tying in popularity with Zorawar, Walter and Hussain. This drop follows years of deep controversy for the former Duke of York, who lost his military roles amid ongoing scrutiny over his links to Jeffrey Epstein.
Andrew enjoyed its heyday in the 1960s, the decade of Mr Mountbatten-Windsor’s birth, when it ranked as the third most popular boys’ name in 1964. It remained a top-100 choice throughout the 1970s and 1980s.
William climbed two places to 25th with 1,456 registrations, while Charles held steady at 119th. Camilla saw a notable surge, with 66 babies named after the Queen – up from just four the previous year.

Major update issued on Meghan Markle’s UK return
Meghan Markle and their two young children are expected to join Prince Harry in the UK later this week, after initially pulling out of London-based engagements due to security concerns. But the Duchess will not be joining her husband at the Invictus Games one-year countdown event in Birmingham tomorrow, as was initially planned, or any other public-facing engagements.
The family of four had been due to travel to the UK together and arrive on Monday night, but it was decided that Harry would fly solo after they were unable to secure taxpayer-funded security. However, Meghan is expected to travel to the UK later in the week with her two children, as an enhanced private security package has been arranged.
The Duchess had been due to attend an Invictus Games event alongside her husband at the National Exhibition Centre (NEC) on Friday. But sources confirmed on Thursday evening that Meghan would not be joining Harry for the event.
If they do cross the Atlantic, it will mark the first time that Meghan and the couple’s children, Prince Archie, seven, and Princess Lilibet, five, will have visited the UK in four years.
It also paves the way for the family of four to meet with the King.
Prince Harry could reject offer to meet King Charles
King Charles’ refusal to meet Prince Harry during his royal visit to the US earlier this year could see the Duke reject any offer to meet his father while in the UK this week, a royal expert has claimed.
According to John McDermott, Caloroga Shark Media co-founder and creator of the Palace Intrigue podcast, Charles decided against adding a meeting with his youngest son as this “would have become the story”.
“It would have overshadowed the purpose of the King’s official trip and shifted the headlines away from the events he was there to undertake,” Mr McDermott added.
“We’re already seeing weeks of speculation over whether Harry will meet members of the Royal Family during his upcoming UK visit, so you can imagine the frenzy a meeting in California would have generated.
“There are also significant security and logistical considerations whenever the King travels.”
The “frenzy” a meeting between the father and son could cause may lead the Duke to decide against meeting with his father, as his number one priority is the Invictus Games, “a cause he’s remained deeply committed to”.
