Lara Spencer can almost stand on her own two feet again!
The 55-year-old Good Morning America host revealed why she has been missing from the show this week, and it involves an excruciating health battle.
Lara took to her Instagram on Wednesday to share a snap showing both of her feet bandaged up as she announced she underwent double surgery.
“If I look a little groggy it’s thanks to this guy who just gave me a new pair of boots (frame 2-wish they were cowboy boots but that will come in about 6 weeks hopefully),” she captioned a carousel post, which included another of the TV star smiling with her surgeon.
Giving more context to the worrying snap, Lara explained: “My right foot was easy – just had plate removed from surgery last year. The left is a bigger deal from a very old college diving injury.

“I was doing a reverse one-and-a-half and hit the board, shattering toes and joints. Back then they said there was nothing you could do except tape it, let it heal, and live with the pain,” the journalist continued.
“Today there are much better options, thanks to surgeons like Dr Marty O’Malley at HSS. These boots were made for walking……” she concluded.
In the comment section, several of Lara’s colleagues wished her a speedy recovery.
“Wow! Well no doubt you’ll be twirling in no time!” ABC News’ 20/20 co-anchor Deborah Roberts wrote.

“Jesus!!! Who does both feet at the same time???? My girl, that’s who! So tough! Sending u speedy love to fast recovery! We’ve got dancing to do,” penned GMA’s former medical chief, Dr. Jennifer Ashton.
“Sweetie!! Feel better soon,” added the show’s chief business, economics, and technology correspondent Rebecca Jarvis.
Fans of the beloved TV were also quick to shower her with messages, like @sdeeg65, who gushed: “Omggggoshhhh thinking & praying for your quick recovery & healing… HSS is AMAZING!!! Sending love & prayers!!!!”
And @briggsnwiggles3 said: “Wow! How on earth do you wear heels all of the time @lara.spencer wishing you a speedy recovery!”
This isn’t the first time Lara has undergone surgeries on her feet. In 2023, she shared that O’Malley operated on her foot for a torn plantar plate and ligament that was “slowly getting worse and worse.”
