Loose Women‘s Carol McGiffin has described Kaye Adams as the ‘epitome of professionalism’ amid her ongoing investigation for bullying at the BBC – but admitted the pair had a tendency to butt heads.
Admitting that her friend ‘always likes to get the last word’, Carol, 65, said that she has never witnessed Kaye, 62, mistreat anyone in the two and a half decades they have known each other.
Kaye, who earns around £155,000 a year, was dramatically removed from her position at BBC Scotland earlier this month after junior staff members accused her of bullying them under the broadcaster’s Call It Out scheme.
The presenter, who allegedly shouted and screamed at her colleagues, has described the scandal as ‘the most distressing weeks of my professional life’.
She told the Mail on Sunday that the BBC has ‘still not provided me with any details of the allegations which have been made against me.’
However, she has thanked those who have spoken out in her defence since she was removed from the airwaves on October 6. ‘I thank them from the bottom of my heart,’ she said.

Admitting that her friend ‘always likes to get the last word’, Carol, 65, said that she has never witnessed Kaye, 62, mistreat anyone in the two and a half decades they have known each other.
Now, Carol is the latest person to offer a message of support to the Scottish presenter, who has been ‘inundated’ with well-wishes.
She wrote in Best Magazine: ‘I’ve known Kaye Adams for around 25 years. I started working with her in 2000, and even when we weren’t working together, we always stayed in contact.
‘She is a friend and I know her very well. She is the epitome of professionalism and one of the best presenters I’ve ever worked with.
‘So, imagine my shock to read that she has been suspended from her long-running morning radio show on BBC Scotland.’
While the star acknowledged that there are TV presenters who do not always behave well, Kay is ‘definitely not’ one of them.
She continued: ‘It’s true, some TV “stars” can be pretty abominable.
‘I’ve seen plenty of them treat staff appallingly… but they’re usually awful people to start with.
‘I wish I could name names, but I can tell you Kaye is definitely not one of them.’
Kaye, who often joins Carole on Loose Women, said she is ultimately hoping that her name will be cleared after it has been ‘dragged through the mud’ by the investigation.

Speculating about the parts of her friend’s personality that could be an issue, she said that her friend ‘doesn’t like to be wrong’.
Carol added: ‘She’s fiercely intelligent and a pedantic, persistent perfectionist.’
‘Also, she doesn’t like to be wrong, which she is sometimes, although she’d never admit it… Yes, she’s annoying sometimes, but never a bully.’
‘Not even when, as anchor on Loose Women, if she was losing the argument in a debate (especially to me), she would always make sure she got the last word!’
The Loose Women star said that even when the pair have clashed over issues like Brexit and climate change, their differences have never actually led to a fallout.
A BBC Scotland spokesperson said: ‘We would not comment on any individual case. If any complaints or concerns are raised, we have robust internal processes in place to manage these.’
