TODAY’s Carson Daly and Dylan Dreyer have gone missing from the morning show with a reliable favorite host in their place.
Carson and Dylan were both gone from their post when Monday’s edition of the Today Show rolled around, with Sheinelle Jones in their place.

Though no reason was given for the pair’s absence, it’s likely Carson is away as he’s busy filming in Los Angeles for The Voice.
The 50-year-old hosts The Voice and the USA game show Barmageddon alongside Blake Shelton.
Previously, Carson had been gone from his post for several weeks off and on.
There was no reason given for Dylan’s absence.
It’s likely the pair will return for Tuesday’s episode.
Sheinelle also handled the show’s daily POPStart segment, during which Carson usually runs down recent pop culture topics.
CARSON’S RETURN
Carson had just returned to the morning show last week.
Fans were excited to see him having returned as of last Thursday’s episode.
He hosted the POPStart segment, which Sheinelle Jones had been doing in his stead, and discussed some of IMDb’s top movies and TV shows of 2023.
Fans who had been asking where Carson was the entire time he had been away were thrilled to see him return.
One mentioned they were “ecstatic” that the host was back on their screens regularly again.
The 50-year-old has routinely missed several episodes of the Today Show over the past few months.
In addition to taking time away for himself, he’s been working multiple gigs.
One such hosting obligation is his place on The Voice.
He also hosts the USA series Barmageddon alongside The Voice pal Blake Shelton.
The Voice usually airs live on Mondays and Tuesdays, preventing Carson from being present on Today those days since The Voice is filmed in Hollywood, California.
Now it appears Carson has returned to his regular schedule, and not a moment too soon.
DALY DOUBLE
While Carson was absent previously, he had someone to cover him.
Sheinelle covered for him on the NBC program’s Tuesday show.
He normally leads Today’s daily segment, POPStart; however, because of his absence, Sheinelle did so.
Some of the topics discussed during PopStart were the Plaza Hotel’s Home Alone experience, based on the film of the same name, Alicia Keys, Taylor Swift, and The Voice.
Had Carson not been across the country attending to his hosting duties for The Voice, Sheinelle wouldn’t have had to take over his segment.
Carson was not in the studio to handle his POPStart segment during Monday’s episode of Today, either.
Sheinelle sat in for Carson then as well, and introduced POPStart with news about Beyonce.
Unlike when some morning hosts go missing, however, neither Sheinelle nor any of the other anchors mentioned where Carson had gone.
ALL JOKES
A week ago, Carson mocked co-hosts Savannah Guthrie and Craig Melvin during the morning show.
Everyone, including Carson and Savannah, Craig, Hoda Kotb, and Al Roker reported live from the Today Plaza.
Several of the audience members were dressed up in holiday costumes, including a pair of attendees who were adorned with Christmas ornaments, but missing their tree topper hats.
Al chatted with them briefly, where they joked about losing that part of their costume.
In the next show, both Savannah and Craig were seen donning the Christmas tree toppers.
They joked about asking if they could borrow them for later in the day.
Carson took one look at the pair and made a snide remark.
“You look like Christmas coneheads,” he said while barely holding in laughter.
Everyone erupted in laughter.
“That’s a throwback,” Al said, while Carson pointed at him and laughed in acknowledgment.
“You have to have a lot of neck strength for these,” Savannah said as she adjusted hers.
The hosts then moved on, but Savannah and Craig left the hats on until they went to commercial.
