Exclusive: What makes the Event hosted by Fox News anchor Steve Doocy and his wife Kathy so Special?

Fox News personality Steve Doocy and his wife, Kathy, will be in The Villages this week.

The couple is coming to Barnes & Noble in Lake Sumter Landing on Friday at 6 p.m. to sign copies of their new book titled, “The Happy Cookbook: A Celebration of the Food That Makes America Smile.” Doocy is one of the hosts of the network’s morning show “Fox & Friends” and is no stranger to The Villages, having broadcast live from Lake Sumter Landing in September 2011.

Doocy also is expected to broadcast some segments of “Fox & Friends” live Friday morning from RJ Gators at Lake Sumter Landing. The show airs from 6-9 a.m. and is expected to include Doocy joining with Villagers for a cooking segment.

The new cookbook is being billed as “a collection of recipes and stories that celebrate comfort and inspire happiness all year round.” Steve has labeled Kathy, his wife of more than 30 years, as “the best cook I’ve ever met.” Together, they enjoy cooking and entertaining family and friends.

In “The Happy Cookbook,” the Doocys share favorite recipes, stories and plenty of photos from their family life. And in addition to beloved family dishes, the full-color publication includes some favorite recipes from the likes of musician Kid Rock, golfer Greg Norman and others.

Some of the many recipes offered in “The Happy Cookbook” include Steve’s Breakfast Smoothie, Eggs in a Nest, Roma Tomato Flatbread, Pimento Cheese Dip, Bacon Corn Chowder, Flaky Ham and Cheese Sandwiches, Mamma Marie’s Meatballs, Kid Rock’s Mom’s Chicken Pot Pie, Ritz Cracker Breaded Pork Chop, Buffalo Chicken Calzone, Kathy’s Famous Sugar Cookies and Betty’s Bourbon Pumpkin Cheesecake.

Doocy recently told his Fox colleagues that he and Kathy have been working on the cookbook for 30 years.

“One of the things about our family recipes is that the way your moms or families make things are different than everybody else,” he said. “And when you see it, you smell it and you taste it, it feels like home. So it’s all recipes that remind somebody of happier times.”

The Doocys started their book tour this past Sunday in Ridgewood, N.J. The cookbook officially hit bookstore shelves Tuesday and their second stop on the eight-city tour is Friday at the local Barnes & Noble, located at 1055 Old Camp Road in Lake Sumer Landing.

That, of course, means Villagers will be among the first in the nation to get signed copies of the new publication.

Doocy’s trip to Florida’s Friendliest Hometown puts him among many Fox personalities who have visited before or will be coming here. Political commentator Tucker Carlson will be at The Villages’ Barnes & Noble on Saturday at 2:30 p.m. to sign copies of his new work titled “Ship of Fools: How a Selfish Ruling Class Is Bringing America to the Brink of Revolution.” He also is no stranger to The Villages, having been here in April 2010 to appear on fellow Fox commentator Sean Hannity’s show, which originated from Lake Sumter Landing.

In August, hundreds of fans came from far and near to meet Greg Gutfeld, co-host of “The Five” and host of “The Greg Gutfeld Show.” One of those was an 11-year-old girl who lined up more than seven hours early to be the first to greet him.

Within a short period of time, Gutfeld’s new book, “The Gutfeld Monologues: Classic Rants From The Five,” had disappeared from the Barnes & Noble shelves. And Gutfeld made sure to chat with customers and pose for photos with everyone who waited in line to see him.

After the highly successful event, Gutfeld headed straight to Kissimmee for a similar event. But on the way, he took the time to offer his thoughts on The Villages and the people who stood in line to meet him.

“I was absolutely blown away by the sheer size and energy of the crowd,” he said, while recalling a similar visit in 2014 to sign copies of “Not Cool: The Hipster Elite and Their War on You” a month after it was released. “The crowd just gets bigger and more fun.”

In May, Fox anchor Bret Baier, whose aunt, Kathy Scarito, lives in the Village of Sunset Pointe, drew quite a crowd when he signed copies of his new book titled “Three Days in Moscow: Ronald Reagan and the Fall of the Soviet Empire.” He praised the turnout at Barnes & Noble and recalled a similar successful book signing last year that was coupled with him doing his television show from The Villages.

Doocy’s “Fox & Friends” co-host, Brian Kilmeade, is another familiar face in The Villages. He been here four times and even received a personalized golf-cart tour of Lake Sumter Landing during one of his visits. His latest Villages stop came in December 2017 when he was signing copies of his book titled “Andrew Jackson and the Miracle of New Orleans: The Battle That Shaped America’s Destiny.”

And while he’s not a Fox News personality, former White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer signed copies of his book, “The Briefing: Politics, the Press, and the President” during an August event at the popular Villages bookstore. Spicer, who seemed to really enjoy mingling and posing for photos with Villagers, said he wrote the book to “set the record straight” about President Trump’s campaign and presidential victory.
