Mary Killen is best known for sitting beside her husband, Giles Wood, on Channel 4’s hit reality show Gogglebox and commenting on the latest shows. Since their debut in 2015, the couple has become a huge favourite among viewers for their hilarious contributions to the show and many memorable one-liners.
Fans often dubbed the duo “posh” due to their “eccentric” humour and cottage-dwelling aesthetic, which reflects their upper-class status. Many viewers pieced together many of these ideals through brief insights into the show and Mary’s previous careers as an author, Spectator columnist, and etiquette expert. In her latest MailOnline column, Mary opened up about her vice and revealed that she now has an addicti0n to vaping despite having “never smoked a cigarette” in her life.

The 67-year-old explained that she picked up the habit “a couple of years ago” after having a puff from a Juul offered to her by her friend’s 22-year-old son.
She revealed that she had “never been interested in normal cigarettes,” even in her younger years and would “decline”, unlike her peers, after being influenced by her father, who was a doctor.
After adding that she doesn’t even “drink alcohol,” Mary opened up about the appeal of vaping and shared: “I loved inhaling the odourless air and blowing it out again. It just looked so chic and felt cooling in the palm of the hand.”
Eventually, the Gogglebox star was purchasing “replacement pods” and said it would “be good if I were to appear to have at least one addicti0n”

Mary added: “I would be ‘levelling myself down’, so to speak, in a way that could make me more socially acceptable in drinking circles.
“How ironic that as a teenager I was able to resist trying to be cool, but in later life the reverse should be the case.”
The TV star then delved into her methods for quitting, saying: “With the time-honoured help of Allen Carr. Carr, the bestselling author of a number of books on the subject, and who died of smoking himself, left a thriving smoking-cessation business.
“And, guess what? There are now courses on quitting vaping as well. I’m signing up pronto and will let you know how I get on.”
