Celebrity Gogglebox star Shaun Ryder has opened up after rumours swirled that he and his Happy Mondays bandmate, Bez, had left the Channel 4 show. In the most recent instalment of the entertainment programme, where people watch other people watching TV, the two Mancunians were “missing” from the line-up of celebrity participants.
On July 4, fans grew concerned as they were nowhere to be seen, but then relief hit when they appeared once more in the series finale on July 11. Addressing the whispers, Shaun exclusively told Express.co.uk: “We haven’t left or anything like that, no. Have we heck.” He explained what had happened to cause their absence, continuing: “This time there’s like seven episodes or something and we have filmed five or six, but no we haven’t left.” He added: “We love it. Bez comes round to mine and brings loads of s*** like ice cream and sweets and everything. The two girls [his daughters] would go mad if we stopped doing it because we get loads of free stuff!”

The boys were back to react to fan favourite shows such as the latest season of Squid Game, First Dates, Olivia Attwood: The Price of Perfection, Match Me Abroad and Netflix’s new reality series, Building the Band.
The former Happy Mondays bandmates have been part of Celebrity Gogglebox since 2019, and are known for offering their humorous commentary on various TV shows. A few fans have expressed their love for Shaun and Bez and even made calls for them to land their own show.
One person took to X (formerly known as Twitter) to post: “Shaun and bez are hilarious ..can they not have their own show !!!”
