Michael Jordan and His Mom Open Their 4th Free Health Clinic in North Carolina
NBA legend Michael Jordan and his mom, Deloris, have opened their fourth family medical clinic in North Carolina, providing essential health care to underserved communities. The newest facility, located in Wilmington, began serving patients in February and focuses on providing primary care for uninsured and underinsured individuals.
The new 7,300-square-foot clinic features 12 patient rooms and operates weekdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. It is the second clinic in Wilmington, following the success of the first Novant Health clinic, which served nearly 1,800 patients within its first nine months.”It’s truly gratifying to know that in less than a year, our first Novant clinic in Wilmington has already made a meaningful impact on the health and well-being of individuals and families in my hometown,” Jordan said, according to Good News Network. “Visiting Wilmington last year for the opening of our first clinic was incredibly moving, and it reinforced just how important access to quality health care is for the community.”
Novant Health president Ernie Bovio acknowledged Jordan’s generosity and emphasized how the clinics have successfully addressed healthcare gaps.
The clinics, first launched in Charlotte in 2019, have removed barriers to care and provided many patients with their first-ever primary care visits.
Jordan’s $10 million donation to Novant Health foundations funded the Wilmington clinics. In addition to primary care, community health workers assist patients with accessing local resources. Both Wilmington clinics also support Novant Health’s Community Care Cruiser, extending services to individuals across the region.
