The Indiana Fever have been working toward postseason contention, looking to make an immediate impact with coach Stephanie White.
On Thursday, the Fever lost 85-75 to the Los Angeles Sparks, falling to 7-8 on the season. After the game, where the Fever played without Caitlin Clark due to a groin injury, White spoke with the media.
She mentioned that with the Fever’s lineup changes, it’s been difficult to put teams away, even when Indiana has a commanding lead. They suffered a loss despite having a double-digit lead, and the coach believes part of the issue lies on the coaches.
“I think that’s a challenge for our group is that when we do get up double digits we have to be able to put teams away,” White said. “Being able to manage to manage the game offensively, being able to dig in and get stops defensively. Our scouting report protecting the paint and they scored 42 points in the paint. That’s not good enough. We got to be better as coaches at preparing them for that and we have to be better executing it.”

As the Indiana Fever continue to work under Stephanie White, who’s heading Indiana in her first season as the returning head coach of the organization, they’re planted as the No. 4 team in the Eastern Conference and No. 9 team in the WNBA standings.
While they have struggled at times, the Fever certainly have the talent to eventually find consistency. Indiana is led by a group of All-Stars: Caitlin Clark, Aliyah Boston and Kelsey Mitchell.
In the loss to the Los Angeles Sparks, Mitchell finished the game with 20 points, one rebound and four assists. Boston capped off the game with 12 points and 10 rebounds.
