Claudia Winkleman QUITS talk show after just one season as she admits ‘I was too nervous to enjoy it’
Claudia Winkleman has confirmed she will not be returning to host a second series of The Claudia Winkleman Show on BBC One, revealing that anxiety prevented her from taking pleasure in the role.
The 54-year-old presenter made the announcement on Thursday, explaining that despite being offered another run by the broadcaster, she felt unable to continue.
“Sometimes you have to try something to see how it fits, and I realised I was just too nervous to enjoy it,” Ms Winkleman said.
The decision comes after the Friday night programme launched earlier this year, with the host acknowledging she may attempt the format again at some point in the future.

She expressed gratitude towards the BBC for the opportunity, as well as the celebrities who appeared on her sofa and the production crew behind the scenes.
“I’m incredibly grateful to the BBC for giving me the opportunity, to the guests who agreed to come and chat to me, and the production team who were simply excellent,” the presenter stated.
“Maybe one day I will give it another try, but for now I already have the best jobs in the world and absolutely love the shows I’m doing,” she added.
Ed Havard, the BBC’s director of entertainment, responded warmly to the news, describing the programme as “an absolute joy” thanks to Ms Winkleman’s hosting qualities.

“Claudia’s warmth and quick wit made The Claudia Winkleman Show an absolute joy,” Mr Havard said.
“Whilst we loved the show, we fully respect her decision and would like to thank Claudia and the brilliant team at So Television for bringing the series to screen on the BBC.”
The broadcaster confirmed that Ms Winkleman’s relationship with the BBC remains strong, with her set to return as host of The Celebrity Traitors in the autumn.
Mr Havard noted that as presenter of “the country’s most-watched show,” audiences can anticipate seeing her back on screens soon.

After news of Ms Winkleman’s departure from the talk show emerged, social media was awash with fans making their thoughts clear.
“See on Traitors she comes across as this confident person but you never know how nervous someone is inside. Fair play to her. Love her,” one fan typed on X.
“Aw that’s a shame I quite enjoyed it,” a second weighed in, while a third similarly praised: “Honestly, this makes me respect her even more, not every opportunity is worth sacrificing your peace of mind.”
However, a fourth felt they saw the decision coming. “Am not surprised. I watched every episode & it was almost as if they were trying too hard to please,” they argued.

The Claudia Winkleman Show debuted in March following the presenter’s departure from Strictly Come Dancing, where she had co-hosted alongside Tess Daly for nearly two decades.
The seven-episode series, produced by Graham Norton’s company So Television, occupied the Friday night slot while Mr Norton’s own programme was on hiatus.
Notable guests across the run included Jeff Goldblum, Vanessa Williams, Jennifer Saunders, Lisa Kudrow and Jamie Dornan, though some critics suggested the show struggled to match the star power typically seen on Mr Norton’s autumn line-ups.
Viewing figures reportedly increased by 50 per cent once episodes became available on the streaming platform.
