‘Absolutely not!’- Brits issue brutal verdict on Prince Harry and Meghan’s security
The Express reveals the poll results of whether Brits want to pay for Prince Harry and Meghan’s security.

An overwhelming majority of Brits do not want to fund security for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle once they return to the UK, based on new data. In a Daily Express poll, which asked our readers whether the UK should help fund the Sussexes’ security, 96% of voters said no.
Between Friday, August 21, at 10.30am and Monday, August 24, at 11am, a staggering 28,825 people disagreed. In comparison, just 960 people said yes, and 180 people said they did not know. This may come as a blow to Prince Harry, who has been in a longstanding legal battle to reinstate his taxpayer-funded security, which was revoked when he left the UK and royal duties with his wife, Meghan Markle, in 2020.
However, one angry poll voter said: “ABSOLUTELY NOT! These 2 grifters had more than enough money to pay for their own security.”
A second said that Brits struggling with everyday costs should be prioritised rather than the Sussexes.
They wrote: “I don’t think I have met anyone who agrees to the Markles’ security being paid for by the British people. We are all hard-pressed to pay for our everyday needs. There is no spare cash to pay for the PRIVATE Markle’s lifestyle.”
A third said: “The Princess Royal only gets security on official duties. Same for Edward. Minor royals don’t get any such as William’s cousins. He wants security; he pays for it. He’s not a working royal, he’s stepped back”. He wants privacy, that does not come with public money….”
It has been reported that the Sussexes’ security arrangements will be reassessed once they return to live full-time in the UK, which is due imminently.
The high-level protections automatically granted to senior royals were revoked by the Protection of Royalty and Public Figures (Ravec), which works on behalf of the Home Office.
It concluded that, because Prince Harry would be an infrequent visitor to the UK, his security needs would be assessed on a case-by-case basis.
The prince argued in court last year that the committee did not consider the particulars of his circumstances properly in 2020. However, three senior judges at the Court of Appeal rejected his appeal in May 2025.
The Duke described the court ruling as “a good old-fashioned establishment stitch-up”,, alleging that security was used as a way to block the Royal Family from being able to choose a different life.
He was told later in the year that his arrangements would be reassessed, but it is understood that a review has not yet taken place.
Prime Minister Andy Burnham glossed over Harry and Meghan’s security arrangements in the UK, saying the funding for it was a “private matter”.
