People can’t stop talking about last night’s Met Gala: Rihanna paid tribute to the Pope, Blake Lively rocked the biggest train we’ve ever seen, and Princess Beatrice even made her way across the pond (sans hat, unfortunately). The “Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and Catholic Imagination” theme inspired some of the most daring — and downright gorgeous — dresses … but it looks like Good Morning America‘s Lara Spencer decided to go a different route.

Instead of wearing a floor-length gown, Lara opted for a beaded minidress. But that’s not all: She paired it with emerald earrings, a translucent bangle, and silver mesh ankle boots.

Of course, the 48-year-old journalist looks as beautiful as ever. However, she faced criticism for ignoring the theme of the star-studded event.
Her boots in particular stirred the pot. Some people loved them: “Wow, those boots were made for walkin’,” wrote one commenter on Instagram. But there were a select few who thought the boots were, dare we say, tacky.
In her defense, Jenna Bush Hager, a fellow journalist, also wore a more classic look, because they were covering the event, not attending it as guests. And still, it’s all about George and Amal anyways, right?
