Political events manager Emily Hewertson, 25, has become the first casualty of Big Brother 2025, departing the ITV2 reality series mere hours after entering the house on Sunday evening.
The decision, which was a combination of public voting and decisions by her housemates, has been panned by furious viewers who’ve claimed her right-leaning views landed her at a disadvantage compared to her “woke” co-stars.
The Westminster insider and former GB News panellist from Northampton fell victim to the savage opening-night mechanism dubbed the Evil Eye, which saw viewers select contestants for immediate eviction risk.
Following the rapid voting period on Sunday, four other housemates were identified as having received the most votes alongside Emily: Nancy, Sam, Caroline, and Cameron.

Big Brother subsequently revealed that Nancy and Cameron were safe, whilst Emily, Sam, and Caroline remained cursed with the Evil Eye designation.
The trio was immediately separated from their fellow contestants and directed to a specially designated Exit Room.
Big Brother informed them that whilst the public had determined their vulnerability, the ultimate decision regarding who would depart rested entirely with the three at-risk housemates themselves.
Inside the Exit Room, the three contestants were asked to present their cases for remaining in the competition and explain how they would utilise the £100,000 prize money.

ITV Big Brother: Sam was left emotional
|Emily stated she would travel to Bora Bora, whilst Sam expressed interest in purchasing property near Disneyland, and Caroline spoke about spending time with her elderly parents and installing new patio doors.
Caroline initially volunteered to depart, noting the other contestants’ youth, but Big Brother insisted on a formal voting process.
When votes were cast, Emily selected Caroline, believing she would cope best with the departure, whilst Caroline chose the 25-year-old, dismissing her Bora Bora ambition as “daft”.
Sam initially selected someone else but changed the decision at the final moment, ultimately voting to evict Emily after being moved by Caroline’s reasoning.

The decision left Sam visibly distressed, weeping in the Diary Room whilst expressing overwhelming guilt about the result, while Caroline described the elimination process as “f***ing horrible”.
Her departure marks the swiftest exit in the programme’s recent history, occurring less than 24 hours after the series launched.
Emily has returned to social media since her departure and appears to have taken her eviction in good faith. “A short story,” she penned on Instagram alongside a violin emoji. “Tory villain + BB = never gonna end well. Thank you for all the supportive messages, as always, haters gonna hate.”
While she may be taking the axe in her stride, it’s safe to say several ITV viewers weren’t as understanding, with several blasting the show for going “woke” and pandering to a “lefty” audience.

ITV Big Brother: Emily reacted to her eviction on social media
“Too British for the woke monster you’ve created,” one X user reacted to the Big Brother account’s post about Emily’s dismissal, while a second echoed: “Since the show left Channel 5, it’s become so woke. Who even watches it these days?”
“Typical, the lefties got rid of the only right-thinking person. No wonder England is such a mess,” a third agreed, before a fourth sarcastically weighed in: “How can we have someone with a different view on our show actually causing drama and making the show good? Back to the lettuce cooking commune!!”
Elsewhere, a fifth slammed: “That was so cruel!! I think it was wrong to get someone so excited about being on the show and then crushing it not long after entering the house! Plus, we don’t know these people on the 1st day, so it’s harsh to judge people on 1st impressions! Poor girl must be devastated!”
And a sixth fumed: “Shameful what you have done; you don’t like anyone with actual British conservative views. It’s fine to have radical left-wing activists in there though.”
However, as expected, there were also several viewers who celebrated seeing a Conservative-supporting contestant eliminated so early in the process.
“Now I’ll watch. Tories never win #BBUK,” one viewer gloated, before a second shared: “Lol nobody likes a Tory, go shout at some hotels on the way to church.” (sic)
