Great British Bake Off was back for another episode as fans were tasked with a ‘difficult’ challenge

The Great British Bake Off was back on Tuesday evening and it was crunch time in the tent as the bakers were challenged with “difficult” tasks. Just minutes into the second week, which was Biscuit Week, fans at home complained that they were “terrified” by one particular bake, while others noted that the challenges seemed harder than in previous years.
Noel Fielding and Alison Hammond welcomed a fresh batch of bakers into the iconic white tent to face the judgment of Paul Hollywood and Prue Leith. The first challenge of the evening this week was for the amateur bakers to make “slice and bake biscuits” – carefully thought out sweet snacks that had an intricate design in the middle. Unfortunately, one of the biscuit designs looked scarily like Noel Fielding winking while another was supposed to be a baby but fans complained that it was “creepy” and “terrifying”.

Posting to X (formerly Twitter), one fan questioned: “Has #GBBO got really hard this year? A biscuit with an intricate picture hidden inside?” While another echoed: “All the biscuits look pretty good. That was a hard challenge though! #GBBO.”
A third person added: “The bakers are being given ridiculously difficult challenges, with insufficient time to even attempt to finish them.#GBBO.”
Elsewhere on the show, intricate designs and limited time to create bakes meant that there were some “horrifying results”. One person shared: “Well the baby biscuit design already sounds terrifying,” while one more agreed: “That baby biscuit looks terrifying!”

As the Channel 4 show premiered the new series last week, fans complained for a different reason. In the opening segment, the presenters and judges drew inspiration from the Hollywood film Jurassic Park for a short sketch, but viewers at home were less than impressed.
The first week was Cake Week, which involved fiddly fondant fancies and Swiss rolls. The bakers then had to do a showstopping illusion cake, with the theme of the illusion being a realistic portrayal of a specific object.
The 10-week competition sees a baker is eliminated each round, and another is named Star Baker.
