Strictly Come Dancing fans were left fuming after a surprise finalist was “unveiled” on Saturday (November 1).

According to The Sun, one viewer posted a screenshot from a Google search AI result, which incorrectly predicted that Karen Carney, the former England footballer, had reached the final of this year’s competition – despite being only halfway through the series.

Meanwhile, other fans voiced their frustration about having the show ruined by AI providing incorrect information.

The publication said that the original poster wrote: “Trying to find out which footballer has gone the furthest into the show and Google’s AI dropped this bombshell.”

Another individual commented: “Lol! I had similar recently when I was being nosey and looking up Jimmy’s wife. Googles AI snippets confidently told me it was Lauren,” reports the Express.

A third person added: “Just goes to show how AI can misinterpret available information and get the conclusion wrong.”

During last weekend’s Icons Week, West End star Amber Davies received a shock when she found herself in the bottom two alongside Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink.

Amber ultimately triumphed over the 53-year-old former professional footballer in the dance-off after failing to secure enough public votes.

Despite her relief at surviving another week in the BBC dance competition, Amber revealed her raw emotions after Jimmy’s departure on Instagram.

Wearing pyjamas while clutching a framed photograph of herself and Nikita performing on the programme, Amber lip-synced to a video clip that confessed: “I woke up this morning, and I felt like absolute garbage. For anyone who wants to know what garbage is, that is French for trash.”

So far, four couples have been knocked out of the dancing contest. Alongside Jimmy, the other eliminated contestants include Thomas Skinner, Chris Robshaw and Ross King.

That’s not all, as the show has also been hit with several injuries, after both Stefan Dennis and Dani Dyer were forced to pull out of the series.

Strictly returned to screens tonight, as hosts Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman welcomed the celebrities back to the iconic ballroom for Halloween week.
