Good Morning Britain viewers were left fuming after what they dubbed an ‘utterly rubbish’ Masked Singer segment, even threatening to switch off the show.
During Friday’s instalment of the ITV programme, Kate Garraway, 57, and Adil Ray, 50, welcomed a giant version of Joel Dommett onto the show, in keeping with The Masked Singer’s famously oversized costumes.
The costume is home to a mystery celebrity – not the real Joel – who is competing in The Masked Singer and is set to be unmasked soon.
Kate and Adil were determined to discover who was underneath the mask, handing him a giant foam finger to answer a series of yes or no questions like ‘Are you taller than the real Joel Dommett?’ and ‘Is your head bigger than Joel Dommett’s?’
However, viewers of the show were unhappy with the direction it took as one fumed on X, formerly Twitter: ‘I see you need to unplug your brain in order to watch #GMB this morning…’
Another agreed: ‘Bobble head human now featuring on the ‘news’. Jesus, #GMB is a total clown show whose only purpose is to promote other shows.’

Someone else threatened to switch off as they raged: ‘This #MaskedSinger segment is embarrassing. Switching off if it doesn’t improve.’; ‘What utter rubbish!’
To make matters worse, Joel reappeared on This Morning for a similar interview, sparking a fresh wave of complaints.
‘The only people who benefit from the #Maskedsinger are the Z-lost celebs…who get paid money and the Fake judges who get paid even more money and Joel who gets paid ridiculous amounts of money…as a spectacle it’s really bad tv,’ one fumed.
Another echoed: ‘The masked singer celebs are really bottom of the barrel aren’t they.’
It comes after Good Morning Britain was halted for ‘urgent’ warnings about the weather in the UK at the moment, with freezing temperatures expected.
The elderly were urged to stay inside and turn their heating on despite rising energy costs.
Good Morning Britain hasn’t been cast in the best light in recent days, with fans demanding an Ofcom investigation be launched into ‘fat-shaming’ comments TV presenter Adil made about darts champion Luke Littler, 17.
Luke is set to face Michael Van Gerwen in the World Darts Championship final on Friday evening after a sensational 6-1 success against Stephen Bunting, 39, on Thursday evening.
And earlier this week, Luke defeated Nathan Aspinall, 33, 5-2 to make the semi-finals of the World Darts Championship.
However, while watching a clip of his win, Adil said: ‘I’m a little bit worried about Littler. He’s 17 and he’s turning into the look of a darts player.’
‘If I were his mum and dad, I mean, he’s sort of – look at him! He’s admitting to having pizzas before a match.’

‘I’d be a bit worried. He’s going to get more successful and he can keep on doing it but I don’t want him to get too unhealthy.’
‘Just before the final. Here you go, I’ve got a salad for you from Pret.’
One fan fumed in response: ‘Adil trying to fat shame Luke Littler is not the best thing this morning.’
As another agreed: ‘@gmb Really, Fat shaming live on morning TV @Ofcom should investigate this shocking behaviour.’
