Davina McCall broke down in tears live on Comic Relief on Friday as she discussed her recent brain tumour surgery.
The presenter, 57, emotionally reflected on life and ‘what really matters’ after undergoing an operation to remove a colloid cyst four months ago.
Speaking on the programme, she said: ‘Doctors found a brain tumour and after thinking about it for a while I decided it would be best to have it removed.’
Davina struggled to hold back tears, with the camera crew being forced to step in and ask if she was ok.
As her voice cracked, she added: ‘This whole experience, kind of weighing up all the risks and all the positive things about having this tumour removed made me really think deeply about what life is really about and what matters when life gets tough.
‘I needed the brilliance and the skills of lots of experts to make me okay. And oh my goodness, I’ve needed the love and support of friends and my family, and in particular, my Michael to get me through.’

The presenter, 57, emotionally reflected on life and ‘what really matters’ after undergoing an operation to remove a colloid cyst four months ago
Davina concluded: ‘It really made me think that there are so many people who are in trouble and danger and they don’t have the support that I had. I was really lucky.’
Davina endured a six-hour operation to remove a 14mmm colloid cyst from her brain on November 15, after a health check discovered the benign tumour.
Earlier this month Davina revealed how she acted before Dr O’Neill performed the surgery.
Speaking with The Times, she recalled: ‘He doesn’t need me screaming at him to keep me alive.
‘He needs to be in the calmest and most confident place. I wanted to empower Kevin to do the best job he could.’
Davina told him: ‘You do whatever you need to do. I put all my faith in you’.
And she has now become pals with the doctor.
Davina added: ‘We’re going to be friends for the rest of our lives… We are going to go out to dinner with our partners! We are GOING TO DO IT!’

Davina revealed the news back last year on Instagram, she said in a video: ‘I was offered a health scan which I thought I was going to ace but it turned out I had benign brain tumour’
Davina revealed the news back last year on Instagram, she said in a video: ‘I was offered a health scan which I thought I was going to ace but it turned out I had benign brain tumour which is very rare, three in a million.
‘I slightly put my head in the sand for a while, I saw a few neurosurgeons, had quite a lot of opinions and realised I needed to take it out.
‘It’s quite big, it’s 14mm wide and it needs to come out because if it grows it would be bad. I’m having it removed. Say a prayer for me. I’m in good spirits.’
Davina explained that while she was at no immediate risk, doctors were concerned that the tumour could grow larger and cause complications.
A colloid cyst is a slow-growing tumour typically found near the center of the brain. The benign growth contains gelatinous material.
