Prince Harry could reportedly be stripped of his royal titles after his humiliating legal defeat against the publisher of the Daily Mail, as he accused the High Court of a “whitewash” and implied a High Court judge was biased against him. This came after Mr Justice Nicklin dismissed all 97 allegations from the Duke, along with Baroness Doreen Lawrence, Sir Elton John and his husband David Furnish, Sadie Frost, Liz Hurley and former Lib Dem MP Sir Simon Hughes, who had brought against Associated Newspapers.

On The Royals Uncensored, host Jo Elvin asked her guest panel: “Where does this leave Harry now? He’s fifth in the line of succession; he’s still extensively legally a councillor of state in this country. Yet, here he is criticising our esteemed judiciary system.” American commentator Kinsey Schofield responded: “I think it’s a realistic option, and I think that it would win the King a lot of fans.” She then praised Buckingham Palace’s prompt response about Harry’s accommodation and added: “There’s the backbone we’ve been waiting for.

“Imagine if he had the courage to strip them of their titles, that they don’t need as Americans. Harry and Meghan don’t need these titles if they’re going to run production companies in the United States.”

King Charles’ former butler, Grant Harrold, chimed in: “I wonder if they’re more likely to remove HRH, because George V was the one that patented the grandchildren, even though Queen Elizabeth changed it against the great-grandchildren.

“The King could quite easily revoke that. He could quite easily take that away from them,” to which co-host Katie Nicholl suggested: “It would be hard for those two little children who are known as Princess Lili and Prince Archie.”

Grant added: “They could still have the titles of Duke and Duchess of Sussex, which was a gift from Queen Elizabeth. I don’t see him taking that away, but HRH, I think it’s possible to see that.”

The Sussexes faced backlash in May 2025 after Meghan’s friend Jamie Kern Lima shared an image of a gift she received from the Duchess, accompanied by a monogrammed card reading: “With Compliments of HRH The Duchess of Sussex.”

This sparked major criticism, as despite the couple retaining their HRH titles after quitting the Royal Family in 2020, they have not used them publicly since then.

In an announcement at the time of their exit, Buckingham Palace said: “The Sussexes will not use their HRH titles as they are no longer working members of the royal family.”

Responding to the backlash, a source for Harry and Meghan said that they did not use HRH publicly but retained the style and did not use it for commercial purposes.

The source described the basket as a “personal gift,” saying: “While they do not publicly use ‘HRH,’ this was a personal gift, and their titles remain.
