TV star Coleen Rooney has shared the one thing she wasn’t prepared for when she entered the jungle.
The Scouse star won the hearts of the nation last year, finishing in second place to McFly singer Danny Jones in and narrowly missing out on the I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! 2024 crown in December.
Coleen, who has launched her own health and wellbeing range with Applied Nutrition, impressed ITV viewers with her down to earth nature and can do attitude during her time in camp as the mum-of-one took on challenge after challenge and remained unfazed.
But there was one thing that unsettled Coleen as she camped under the stars in Australia. “I had met with the producers and I also knew people who’d previously done the show so I knew [before I signed up] that you couldn’t take things in etc,” Coleen told the Mirror at the launch of her new collection on Thursday night.
“But the one thing that shocked me was just how real it actually was. I obviously knew you weren’t gonna get like extra food and stuff but when we first came in and we couldn’t light the fire, I thought maybe someone might come in. You do not see other people unless you go out to do a trial – that’s the first time you come into contact with anyone.”
It’s no surprise Coleen was ready to take on a Bushtucker Trial after a few days in camp. The star, who was joined by husband Wayne Rooney at her launch in Liverpool, added: “You get bored in there as well, so you want to go out and you want to see other people and do a trial for something to do.”

Viewers of I’m A Celebrity were left marvelling at how stunning Coleen’s skin appeared while she was roughing it in the wilderness, using nothing but stream water for skincare and not a touch of makeup. The question on everyone’s lips—did her glowing skin owe a debt to her routine with Applied Nutrition?
“I’d obviously been taking the skin, hair, and nails [supplements] and the collagen, but I really do think the collagen helps,” she shared enthusiastically during her product launch, while fans eagerly waited hours for a selfie with her. “It prevents and reduces fine lines and wrinkles. So I’ve always feel refreshed off it.”
She added radiantly, “My skin glows – you get this glow – so I do think that plays a big part. Obviously, I look after my skin as well, with products and stuff, but I do think that [collagen] played a big part [in my I’m A Celebrity appearance]. People have noticed a change in my skin since I started taking the collagen. It gives a great, glowy, youthful look.”
Coleen’s curated range at Applied Nutrition, crafted with the modern woman in mind, boasts Marine Collagen and exclusive products like Coleen’s Hydration Secret Powder, Sleep Secret Powder, Immunity Secret Powder, and Debloat Secret Powder. Her fans are in for a treat, as they can shop these items online from Friday 10th January.
Coleen was named the lead female ambassador for Applied Nutrition last year, just before jetting off to Australia for her stint in the jungle. “Balancing my role as a mum and managing my personal life can be challenging, but it’s important for me to stay healthy and energised,” Coleen expressed when her new role was unveiled.
“I’ve always taken an interest in looking after myself and Applied Nutrition has impressed me because of the quality of their products. The collagen and the diet whey protein make a real difference and something I’m using whether at home, in the gym or enjoying my regular Reformer Pilates sessions.”
