George would rather play on his phone than talk to Robin off camera, a source claims

GOOD Morning America anchor George Stephanopoulos has fueled feud rumors with Robin Roberts with their apparently frosty relationship.

The colleagues seem to be so cold to one another that George, 64, prefers to play chess on his phone rather than even look at his co-host Robin, also 64, during off-air moments, according to Breaker Media.

“The chill between colleagues — on and off camera — is best summed up by the fact that George Stephanopoulos stares down at his phone on the set of GMA and plays chess instead of talking to, or even looking at, his co-host Robin Roberts,” the outlet reported.

The publication also said the culture at ABC News, which broadcasts GMA, is “secretive and cold.”

However, an ABC News spokesperson told The U.S. Sun: “This is unfounded, ridiculous gossip designed to get clicks and nothing more.”

GEORGE’S DRAMA

This is not the only time George has been dragged into speculations of a feud with his co-stars.

It was recently reported that George was in a bitter battle with World News Tonight star David Muir.

The U.S. Sun previously revealed that George wanted a dressing room as big as rival David’s space, as the two stars move to the new luxury ABC studio.

In 2021, David became the lead anchor of breaking news and special event coverage for ABC News, a role previously held by GMA anchor George from 2014 to 2020.

A source exclusively told The U.S. Sun that the GMA star has been quietly asking around about what his World News Tonight rival’s dressing room looks like in their new ABC studios in downtown New York City.

“George has been interested in making sure he gets whatever David Muir gets,” the insider claimed.

“He’s been asking people on his team to find out what David is getting to make sure his is comparable.”

Another insider, however, claimed there is “no merit” to George inquiring about David’s accommodations in the new studios.

Most of ABC’s news programming will be moving to the new location sometime in 2025, so far only The View has moved downtown.

Meanwhile, the insider said that Robin, George and Michael Strahan’s old dressing rooms in the uptown studios are currently all about the same size.

“Robin, George and Michael all have their own personal dressing rooms, and they’re all pretty much the same size. They all have a dressing area, they all have a couch, and there are lots of pictures on the walls.

The insider claimed that in the new studios, Robin’s dressing room is rumored to have an ensuite bathroom.

In 2016, George upgraded his dressing room with a design team from Architectural Digest.

MORE ABC CHAOS

As The U.S. Sun previously reported, George’s colleagues have been furious over his massive paycheck amid company layoffs.

Co-hosts Robin and Michael have also been targets of resentment, a source claimed.

“There is a lot of resentment that all these employees are losing their jobs making $100,000 or $150,000 a year, but Robin is making $20 million, Michael is making $17 million and George, who gets sued for $15 million, still gets his $18 million salary,” the source explained.

“People think it’s just not fair.”

ABC settled a lawsuit with then President-elect Donald Trump, 78, after the network was sued over George’s on-air comment.

The anchor said on air that that Trump was found liable for raping writer E. Jean Carroll, but he was actually found liable for sexually abusing and defaming her.

Despite this, his contract was reportedly renewed in late 2024.

“The people at the bottom are getting hit the worst,” the source said. “It might seem illogical but people think maybe the big talent should take the pay cut instead.”
