Chris Hughes is opening up about his relationship with JoJo Siwa.

The Love Island star, 32, shared in an interview with The Sun‘s Fabulous Magazine that meeting the Dance Moms alum, 22, on Celebrity Big Brother UK gave him a “magical feeling” and he knew from the start that she was the “most precious person.”

“Life has an unexpected way of bringing two people together, and this feels like that,” Hughes said of their relationship. “We were meant to cross paths … We keep saying to each other it was serendipity. Life handed me a blessing in my lap.”

He added that when they were on the show, he “adored the ground she walked on and the way she handled herself” — and that feeling only grew. He said they had continued their friendship after the show was done and talked “all the time.”

However, things changed when he “flew to Mexico City to surprise her” and then met her family in Orlando. While there he said they spent time together and he had the “best three days of my life” — which led up to their first kiss.

“Our first kiss was genuinely special – it felt like I was in a movie,” Hughes recalled to the outlet. “I can’t keep my hands off her now!”

The reality star also revealed to Fabulous Magazine that he has already told Siwa that he loves her, saying, “every day I tell her.” He explained, “I can’t explain it, but it’s a safe love. It’s like a natural high.”

And he wants to take their relationship to the next level one day.

“I’d love to marry her,” Hughes said. “I’d be lying if I didn’t tell you I run through scenarios of our wedding day … We’d have a proper English wedding and I can imagine her in a full wedding dress.”

“We both want kids,” he continued. “We come from loving families. My mum loves her. She’s my best friend. I love that she’s the person I have to do nothing with and still have the best time. That’s everything to me.”

As for right now, the couple — who confirmed their relationship on June 2 — has a “transatlantic relationship,” Hughes said. While they “haven’t spoken about living with each other in the future,” he shared that he was willing “to jump on planes” and travel to wherever she was and that he’s written her “love letters.”

He explained, “I’m obsessed with her. I’d do anything for her.”

He told the magazine that besides his family, he has also gotten the seal of approval on their relationship from the professional dancer’s parents, Jessalynn and Tom Siwa. He said he has even been added to their family group chat.

However, the fans are a different story. He said the pair have noticed the “criticism” from fans about their relationship — and particularly their age gap — but they try to rise above it.

“I don’t care. I wouldn’t go to the effort of loving someone for any other reason than it being real,” he said. “Having been in this industry for eight years, I needed to adapt to having criticism from different angles. The past few months have actually made me a little stronger mentally.”

He also said that their age gap didn’t cross his mind until fans mentioned it online, saying, “She’s one of the most mature people I’ve ever met, and I’m very immature! But it just works.”

Hughes also got candid about his thoughts on the “hate online” his girlfriend has received for dating a man after previously coming out as a lesbian.

He clarified that “she is bisexual” and that “she’s not now straight just because she’s with me.”

“Sexuality can be fluid, and you should be able to love who you want without judgement,” he added. “She is still part of the LGBTQ+ community, she always will be. And while there’s been negativity, there has been so much love.”
