EMOTIONAL MOMENT: ABC News Anchor Linsey Davis Breaks Down on Live TV While Speaking About Her Mother!

Linsey Davis is a distinguished journalist and author, known for her engaging segments on ABC News and her creative literary works. She effortlessly brings stories to life, drawing deeply from themes of love, kindness, and faith. These themes are not only integral to her children’s books but also firmly embedded in her own upbringing.
The origins of her storytelling prowess trace back to her childhood home, inspired by her mother’s passion for the written word. She explained, “She would say that [my mom was] also very much responsible for my falling in love with storytelling and with writing and with the English language.”
Her mother was not just a writer but a storyteller who brought their home to life with narratives filled with imagination and wonder.

Linsey also credits her early confidence to speaking at church gatherings during her formative years. She shared,
When I look back now, I think [my time in church as a child] was so important to who I am today. My first time ever doing any kind of public speaking was in church. I think that confidence-building is what I’m looking at as far as what I feel is part of the building blocks of success, if you will. I found the foundation in the church
As we explore the roots of Linsey’s early influences, let’s appreciate the personal stories and family ties that have shaped her path into the professional world!
Both of Her Parents Are Teachers
Davis, along with her older sister, Whitney Davis, grew up in a home where education was a daily conversation. Her parents, Ronald and Beverly Davis, were both teachers in Medford, New Jersey—Ronald taught math, and Beverly was an English teacher at the middle school level.

Her mom, Beverly, is a graduate of Dwight Morrow High School and later pursued a degree in Literature at Chestnut Hill College. After years of teaching, Beverly stepped away from the classroom. Meanwhile, Ronald, after retiring from his teaching career, ventured into a new path by opening a construction company.
Her Mom and Dad Have Been Married For Over 50 Years
Ronald and Beverly, share more than just a love for teaching; they’ve also maintained a strong marriage since February 1, 1969. As of 2025, they’ve been together for more than 50 years. They celebrated their 50th anniversary in February 2019, with Beverly sharing a photo on Facebook with the caption, “Today, we celebrate 50 years. We’ve been Blessed.”
They currently reside in their home in Moorestown, New Jersey. Linsey’s connection to her family’s past reaches back to Georgia, where her great-great-great-grandfather, Tobe Murray, was born in 1829. On a visit to the Georgia Archives in Morrow County, which holds an extensive collection of the state’s historical documents, Linsey uncovered a significant piece of her family’s story. She learned that Murray, who was likely formerly enslaved, bravely registered to vote in June 1867, during a time when doing so came with great risk.
