Fans of Good Morning Britain have issued the same complaint, as one star was left frustrated live on air.

Hosts Susanna Reid and Ed Balls were back in the ITV studio to discuss the day’s biggest headlines in the latest edition of the news programme. They were joined in the studio by Kate Garraway, who shared a unique story not long into the show.

Kate spoke about Chester Zoo, which has said that reaction to the weather app is costing outdoor attractions thousands of pounds a day in lost ticket money.

The zoo is now leading a nationwide campaign to change how forecasts are displayed on weather apps, so families get a clearer idea of whether they face a washout or just a brief shower.

Jonathan Swain, who was reporting live from the zoo, explained that bosses have seen a 30% drop in visitor numbers due to people seeing rain forecast on the weather app. This has led to the zoo losing around £137,000 on peak days.

“It’s not just Chester Zoo wanting changes to these apps. All tourist attractions, such as Blackpool Pleasure Beach, all the way down to the Eden Project in Cornwall [agree].”

Back in the studio, weather presenter Laura Tobin shared her frustration, saying: “I think people would be more cross if it displayed no rainfall and there was rain at some point in the day, because people would say, ‘I’m not prepared’.

“So I think, we always say, there’s never bad weather, just the wrong clothes. If you take clothes to prepare for rain and most of the day it’s sunny, you can get inside to those attractions. There’s load of indoor attractions at all of these places. I know this is clickbait, but this is making me really angry.”

Susanna and Ed looked on in shock, as Laura continued: “One symbol can never represent the whole day! Just open the app and pay attention. Listen to me!”

GMB viewers were also left annoyed by the story, with many sharing their frustration on X (formerly Twitter). “What a load of rubbish,” one person wrote.

Another added: “It literally shows you hour by hour on the weather apps, so I don’t really get the point of this campaign by Chester zoo,” while a third said: “This is a load of rubbish they show it hour by hour!”

A fourth fan echoed the sentiment, saying: “Infantilising the weather,” with another similarly sharing: “What absolute nonsense! It’s becoming the norm for GMB. Completely devoid of news, but full of irrelevancy.”

Meanwhile, some viewers were in agreement with the zoo, with one person commenting: “Absolutely spot on.” Another added: “Yes much needed.”
