HEARTBROKEN: Emmerdale Couple Split After 10 Happy Years Together. The Reason Revealed Has Left Viewers Heartbroken.
Claire King, who is famed for playing Kim Tate on the ITV show, was married to her on-screen son before she made a shock discovery that ended their marriage. The actress debuted on Emmerdale as Kim in 1989 before leaving 10 years later to pursue other opportunities, including Bad Girls as Karen Betts, and Erica Holroyd in rival soap Coronation Street.
Fortunately, she made a triumphant comeback as Kim in 2018, with the character now residing at the lavish Home Farm estate. However, it was during Claire’s first stint in the Dales that she met her future husband, Peter Amory, who played Chris Tate, the son of Kim’s husband Frank (Norman Bowler), reports the Mirror.

Introduced in 1989, Chris Tate was part of the original Tate family on Emmerdale, relocating to the village with his father, Frank, sister, Zoe, and stepmother, Kim.
During his 14 years on the ITV soap, the character got married three times, fathered two children and had long-standing feuds with both his dad and Kim.
In his final years, Chris’s fate was tragically intertwined with Charity Dingle’s, played by Emma Atkins. Revealed to be Charity’s unborn baby’s father, he never got to meet Noah (Jack Downham) as he died by suicide before his son was born.

Away from the ITV soap, romance blossomed between Claire and Peter, who tied the knot in 1994 and remained together for a decade. Their marriage, however, came to an abrupt end when it was alleged that Peter had been unfaithful to Claire with fellow Emmerdale actress Samantha Giles, who portrayed Bernice Blackstock.

“I had a feeling that something was going on,” she told the Mirror in 2005. “I was working in London and we were spending less and less time together. I was travelling back to Yorkshire every weekend. I remember Pete saying that I only came back to see my dogs and horses… and I thought: ‘Well, yeah, and to catch you at it!’.
“But then it was Samantha’s husband who wrote me a letter and told me. That was about four years ago. I questioned Pete and he admitted it had been going on for a while. He told me it was over but then it started again.”
Despite the devastating blow, Claire discovered love once more and is now contentedly married. Her husband chooses to remain out of the public eye, and she has taken on the role of stepmother to his two children.
