Jessica Tarlov and Jesse Watters were at loggerheads over the gossip about Elon Musk’s salary.
Social media rumors this month claimed that the billionaire entrepreneur appointed by President Donald Tr::ump to tackle government waste and fraud, was raking in an eye-watering $8 million a day from federal contracts. The revelation of the “$8 million per day for government contracts” initially came to light during a House Oversight Committee subcommittee hearing on February 12 when U.S. Rep. Greg Casar, a Texas Democrat, dropped the bombshell.

“Do you know how much money a day Mr. Musk will receive from the federal government?” he provocatively asked before revealing: “The answer is $8 million a day. Just last year, he was promised $3 billion from close to 100 contracts with the federal government.”
A White House official later dismissed Greg’s assertion as inaccurate but stopped short of providing the correct figure. The heated debate around Elon’s purported earnings was a highlight of Thursday’s edition of Fox News’ The Five.
Right off the bat, panelist and Democrat Jessica Tarvlov chimed in with her take, saying, “I think this is a positive sign for Democrats, though, because there seems to be a bit of coalescing around a message that is resonating. So Hakeem Jeffries gave a press conference today.
“He had up two signs, and one of them says ‘Elon Musk is making $8 million a day in government contracts. The average Medicaid recipient gets $65 a day’.
“And we know in the new spending bill that speaker Johnson put forward, that narrowly passed the House, that you’re going to –,” Jessica continued as her co-star Jesse Watter could be heard loudly yawning off camera. “Why are you–? This actually matters to people,” Jessica fumed as she gestured to Jesse beside her.
Mocking his co-star, Jesse sarcastically said: “This is a great new message, and I’m bored,” as he flapped his hands around. Jessica fired back: “You get bored the second I open my mouth!”.
Brushing off Jesse’s snarky comments, Jessica continued: “No, but it does matter to say that somebody who is running the government in a serious capacity and is supposed to be rooting out. waste, fraud, and abuse is making $8 million a day and they want to cut your Medicaid.
“And you know how serious the threat is because Josh Hawley, of all people, is saying that he will not allow that spending bill to go through the Senate; he says 21 percent of the people who live in his state are on Medicaid,” she added. For a change, viewers seemed to be in agreement with Jesse, as evident from their reactions.
Taking to X (formerly known as Twitter), @Airmale182 expressed frustration, writing: “For the love of all things tolerable, can someone @FoxNews find an opposition advocate that can make something other a ridiculous argument? She’s exhausting to listen to and requires an immediate change of the channel.”
@DogRightGirl went further, stating: “This is a flat out lie. There are ZERO cuts to Medicaid. You are a pathetic liar.”
Meanwhile, @ju31815 argued that “Fox needs to show you the door!” and @CowboyPolitics_ blasted: “You LIAR, there’s not one cut to medicaid in the bill. Anyone can search the document and find out for themselves. You libs are all the same, pathetic liars.”
