A Sky News reporter has warned that Prince Harry has destroyed any hope of reuniting with his older brother William following his recent visit to the UK. The dad-of-two completed his five-day trip to the UK last week, following a chaotic lead-up to changes due to increased security concerns. The Duke of Sussex carried out various engagements linked to his charities, the Invictus Games, WellChild and Scotty’s Little Soldiers.

The highly anticipated visit didn’t come without its disappointments for the royal, after he lost a High Court case against the publisher of the Daily Mail on the first day of his trip. He appeared at the events solo, without his wife, Meghan Markle, after uncovering several terror plots against the family.

Later on in the week, he reunited with his wife and children for a family reunion with King Charles and Queen Camilla. The Sussex children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, had not seen their grandfather in four years before taking them to see his mother, the late Princess Diana’s resting place.

Now, royal correspondent Louise Roberts has warned that, despite taking “baby steps” to repair his relationship with the King, he has only made matters worse with his brother, Prince William. Host Gabriella Power welcomed the expert onto the show, where she reflected on the impact of Harry’s recent visit to his old stomping ground.

She began: “There are reports that the King is said to be fed up with Prince Harry and some of the drama that surrounds him. It’s also been fascinating to observe William’s silence; there’s been no meeting or even acknowledgement from either party.” Ms Roberts explained: “I see William’s silence as a strategy in itself.

“It was very effectively used by the Queen; she would say nothing except in an extreme situation, where she would utter a comment about a situation. ‘Recollections may vary’, is the classic one she gave after Harry and Meghan did their Oprah interview. So, William is doing what he’s always done, which is just say nothing and move on and be dignified.

“He said nothing after Oprah, he said nothing after [Prince Harry’s autobiography] Spare, even though there were oodles of things he could have commented on. William has always been above the grain in that way and doesn’t say anything because he is the future monarch.

“So Harry may have made baby steps in repairing his relationship with his father, but as far as William is concerned, it’s absolutely not. That is still frozen solid.” Viewers soon flocked to the comments to share their thoughts on the crumbling relationships within the royal family, and the impact that will have when Prince William becomes King.

One user asked: “Why would William be interested in any further relationship with a brother who has done nothing but continuously betray and insult him, and indeed the whole family, including the Crown?” Another agreed: “Harry lambasted Catherine, and William, and they will never forget that.”

A third chimed in with: “Reconciliation isn’t owed to people who’ve never said sorry. Accountability first, forgiveness second – Harry can’t skip the accountability step and then act shocked when it’s not extended.

“William has every right to keep his boundaries after everything that was said about the family, especially about his late grandmother. Nobody ‘owes’ reconciliation to people who’ve shown no remorse, only convenient timing.”
