Social media is in stitches after an 11-year-old tweet from Washington Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels resurfaced on Saturday night.
In an upset for the ages, Jayden Daniels was near-perfect in the Commanders’ 45-31 victory over the top-seeded Detroit Lions in the Divisional Round. The No. 2 pick was 22-of-31 for 299 yards, two touchdowns, no interceptions, zero sacks and 51 rushing yards.
After Daniels led Washington to their first NFC Championship Game appearance since 1991, fans dug up an 11-year-old tweet from Daniels that aged like fine wine. Back on July 24, 2014, a 13-year-old Daniels wrote, “One day you guys gonna here my name everywhere.”
Daniels lived up to that promise, alright. And fans had all sorts of priceless reactions to the resurfaced tweet:
“The biggest W yet for Jayden Daniels,” wrote one fan.
“We hear your name everywhere Jayden Daniels, Mr. Heisman, NFC Championship appearance as a rookie. Still not done yet!,” a fan said.
“you might be the greatest qb of all time,” remarked another.
“Jayden Daniels made it happen 🫡,” said one fan.
“Remember when ASU chased him out of town and his own teammates were saying he was a bum. Since then? Heisman winner, ROTY winner, and now in the NFC Championship,” a fan wrote.
“Have faith in yourself as much as Jayden Daniels had in 2014,” wrote another.
The Commanders will visit the winner of the Philadelphia Eagles-Los Angeles Rams Divisional Round tilt in next week’s NFC Championship Game.
Jayden Daniels’ Epic Rookie Season Continues
Including the postseason, it’s not at all a stretch to say that Daniels is putting together the best rookie campaign ever for a quarterback. Taking Washington to the playoffs was impressive enough, but now he’s led them to their first NFC title game berth in 33 years.
Long-suffering Commanders fans deserve this after all the misery of the Dan Snyder era that mercilessly ended two years ago.
