Cliff Richard has said he will probably be forced to retire from touring, ahead of the music legend’s upcoming shows in Australia and New Zealand.

The hitmaker, who turns 85 in October, said he was unsure if the gigs would be his ‘farewell tour’ because he does not look too far into the future and ‘could be d3ad next year’.

The Mirror reported he told a New Zealand radio station: ‘The thing I would have to give up probably at some time is touring. It’s very wearing, and you never know when you wake up in the morning whether your voice is still there’.

He was unsure if it would be his final ever tour, but said: ‘I might be d3ad the next year! So I don’t even think about it anymore. It’s one of those things. As I get older maybe I’ll become less able to perform, so I can’t say’.

Cliff also revealed that he would not be performing his famous dance moves on the Can’t Stop Me Now, due to not wanting to seem an octogenarian ‘trying to be 18’.

‘I’m sure the audience will see that we – the big band and I – are friends and almost a family when we’re on tour. So we’ll try and do something that will make it look as though I’m 18! But I’m not’.

Sir Cliff, who was awarded his knighthood in 1995, has an epic back catalogue which includes more than 50 studio and live albums.

His music career began when his father bought him a guitar at the age of 16 and he later joined band The Drifters.

In 1958, he had a solo hit with his song Move It and has since sold 250million records.

The Living Doll hitmaker previously insisted he’ll never retire and the word is ‘not in his vocabulary’.

He said in 2022 that he likes the freedom of working whenever he chooses and would like to be less strict with his plans in the future.

Cliff told the Mirror: ‘I don’t know if I ever want to retire. I don’t mind stopping.

‘Stopping would mean that I could absolutely change my mind any time I wanted to, or phone my office and say, “Can you get us a couple of nights at the Royal Albert Hall?”

‘So, retiring is not in my vocabulary, but stopping is good for me – I can work whenever I want to, if I want to.’

The Young Ones singer said: ‘All the pictures in my 2025 official licensed calendar were taken, once again, by Robin Williams at my home in Barbados and when on a wonderful cruise earlier this year.

Sir Cliff’s total calendar sales since 1979 are reportedly around the £2million mark – beating those of David Beckham.

His 2022 release was the best-selling of any music star’s calendar, according to Calendar Club, which had Elvis Presley in second, followed by Styles.

Danilo Promotions, which tracks sales of all calendars, put Sir Cliff’s 2024 in fourth, with Ms Swift top. Styles didn’t make the top five.

U2 frontman Bono has shared that he lived on very basic food after his mother d13d when he was just a teenager. The singer, who is now estimated to be worth an eye-watering £500million, explained that he spent his money on “more important things” such as music as “food was just fuel”.

The 65-year-old revealed all on Ruthie’s Table 4 podcast, telling host Ruthie Rogers all about his grief after his mother, Iris Hewton, passed away when he was 14. He said: “After my mother d13d, I would usually return home with a tin of meat, a tin of beans and a packet of Cadbury’s Smash [instant mashed potato].” Bono continued: “Thinking back to being a teenager, food was just fuel. I would spend my food money on things far more important like Alice Cooper’s Hello Hooray.” The singer and his brother also often enjoyed leftover aeroplane food, too.

He shared: “The house was two miles away from the runway where my brother Norman worked for Aer Lingus. He had talked them into allowing him to bring home the surplus food from the airline. This was highly exotic fare.

“Gammon steak and pineapple, an Italian dish called lasagne that we’d never heard of or one where rice was no longer a milk pudding but a savoury experience with peas.”

Bono, who was born Paul David Hewson, admitted that his relationship with food changed after his mum d13d, even though he had little memory of her. He heartbreakingly confessed: “Sadly, I don’t have many memories of my mother cooking or otherwise.

“After my mother d13d, we just didn’t speak her name. So it’s hard when you do that to recall these things. We certainly had kitchen table dramas, three men arguing a lot because the woman of the house was gone. And I remember my relationship with food changed.”

“It was really the part of an Elvis impersonator, so that’s what I did. Dressed up in one of my mother’s white trouser suits with some silvery sequins glued on, I curled my lip and brought the house down.

“I’ll be watching on TV but some of the family are going down there to watch her on the day – and I think I’ll be a bit more nervous then,” he added.

Rylan Clark was forced to pull out of his BBC Radio 2 show after his mum Linda was rushed to hospital with a mystery illness. The TV presenter informed fans that he would be absent from his usual Saturday afternoon show, explaining that Linda had been taken to the emergency ward.

Taking to Instagram on Friday (July 18), he told fans: “Mummy Linda isn’t well sadly so I won’t be hosting the show tomorrow. Thank you to the emergency team at Princess Alexandra Hospital. Especially Tanya who really looked after my mum. Will keep you updated as she’s on the mend. She’s a trooper.”

The BBC has since revealed that Richie Anderson will cover Rylan on Saturday, with the stand-in host set to be joined by singer Diana Vickers. Richie confirmed that he is stepping in for the latest episode in a video.

He said: “I need your help. So tomorrow I’m sitting in for Rylan on Radio 2 and I’m gonna be joined in the studio by the icon Diana Vickers. She’s got a new podcast out, relationship agony aunt, so we wanna use her advice skills as we do ‘Dianna Dilemmas’. So we want your fun household, family, relationship dilemmas.”

The last time Linda was in hospital was back in 2022 after she suffered a nasty fall while on holiday in Marbella. At the time, Rylan told fans: “So unfortunately I took my mum away on her first holday in a good few years and safly she’s had quite a bad fall, resulting in her having to have surgery out here.

“She’s not in the best health with her other conditions and this has made it more complicated.” But it wasn’t long before Linda was back to her old self again, with the former X Factor star telling The Sun months later: “My mum is doing really, really well… she’s really, really great. She’s stumbling about Lakeside, so she’s very much back to normal.”

He wrote on Instagram last week: “So we’ve finally done it. Linda is now on Instagram. Bear with as she gets used to it but give her a follow if you want. Can’t believe this is happening.”

Fans of Channel 4’s Gogglebox were absolutely fuming on Friday. After being treated to brand new episodes for the last few weeks, many viewers were gutted to tune in this week to a repeat of the Celebrity spin-off version instead.

The show sees a number of famous faces getting cosy on their couches to keep up to date with another week of television as they share their hilarious thoughts and commentaries. Fans watch on as regulars such as Rylan Clark and his mother Linda, Danni and Danny Dyer and Happy Mondays stars Shaun Ryder and Bez all laugh and cry at whatever they’re watching. However, instead of an episode from the latest series, fans were instead shown a compilation repeat from series 6, which originally aired last year – much to their dismay.

Fans online showed how unhappy they were with having no new content. Posting to X (formerly Twitter), one complained: “Thanks for ruining my day @Channel4, not having a new #Gogglebox.”

Another fumed: “It’s a crappy repeat #gogglebox how shite for a Friday night #lazy,” while a third echoed: “Erm…why is a 2024 episode of Gogglebox playing?! #gogglebox #celebritygogglebox.”

The episode looked at some stand out moments from the series including clips from Bridgerton, MILF Manor, George Clarke’s Amazing Spaces, In with a Shout, America’s Sweethearts: Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders, The UnXplained: Mysteries of the Universe, and coverage of the Glastonbury Festival and Donald Tr::u::mp’s victory in the 2024 US presidential election.

The final episode of the latest series brought a fantastic end as two more faces were introduced to the lineup. Hannah Waddingham and Tim Minchin made their first appearance in the star-studded lineup on Friday, July 11.

The award-winning maestro Tim Minchin expressed his excitement: “Things I love: cheese, rosé, comfy couches, Hannah Waddingham.” And added: “In combining them, I achieved a life-goal I didn’t know existed. Thank you, Gogglebox.”

BBC Radio 2 star Sara Cox and her companion, Clare Hamilton, also joined the show. Sara previously gushed: “I love watching and shouting at the telly and I love hanging out and having a laugh with my best mate, so doing Gogglebox with Clare is the dream.”

Speaking to Prima, Carol went on to reveal a memorable moment that something went wrong on-air, that left her “horrified”.

She said: “I was reporting live from Greenwich Park, and I’d rehearsed it, saying: ‘We’ve been watching joggers and dog walkers all morning.’

“When we went live, I somehow managed to get the two words muddled up to end up saying something very different!

“I was horrified! But I had to stay straight-faced and carry on.”

Carol has become a firm fan-favourite on BBC Breakfast, often joking with Naga Munchetty and Charlie Stayt.

In a recent interview, Carol spoke about the online fight of the #notaweathergirl hashtag circulating, and whether she aligns with industry peers in hoping to fight back against demeaning sexism.

“I am what I am, and I don’t really care what anybody thinks of me,” she told RadioTimes in a new interview.

“And in that sense, whether I’m a ‘weather girl’ or a ‘weather presenter’ or a ‘broadcast meteorologist’ doesn’t really bother me.
