Singer Brandy’s 22-Year-Old Daughter, Sy’rai, Graduates College Summa Cum Laude

Nationwide — Sy’rai Smith, the 22-year-old daughter of Grammy-winning singer Brandy, has officially graduated at the top of her class with a Bachelor of Science in Entertainment Business. The Los Angeles native, who previously earned her associate’s degree from The Los Angeles Film School in 2023, is now being celebrated by her famous family for this latest milestone in her academic journey.
Brandy, affectionately known as the “vocal bible,” shared her heartfelt pride in an Instagram post dedicated to her daughter’s achievement. “@syraismith I’m so proud of you my girl!! Your journey has been amazing to watch,” she wrote. “Your dedication and perseverance are forever inspiring. You did it!! I love you so much and all I ask is for you to keep shining and dreaming as big as you can. Love Mama.”Essence reports that Sy’rai responded to the touching tribute with gratitude, commenting, “I love you mama so much thank you for blessing me everyday and getting me through this school year.” Her uncle, singer and entrepreneur Ray J, also chimed in with joy, writing, “My NIECE!!! LOVE YOU SO MUCH!!”
On her own Instagram page, Sy’rai posted a radiant graduation photo wearing a pink cap and draping her matching gown over her shoulder. Brandy, continuing the outpouring of love, commented again: “I’m soooooooooo proud of you and the woman you continue to become! You’re the brightest light I’ve ever seen and I’m looking forward to the next chapter of your life. Congratulations #SyraiClassOf2025 #YouDidIt”
In addition to her academic accomplishments, Sy’rai has begun carving out her place in the music world. In May 2023, she released her debut solo single “On My Own,” and more recently teamed up with Krista Campbell, daughter of gospel star Erica Campbell, for a powerful rendition of her mom’s iconic duet “The Boy Is Mine” in November 2024.
Born in 2002 to Brandy and music producer Robert “Big Bert” Smith, Sy’rai has blossomed into a talented and driven young woman. Her family’s support and her own dedication suggest a bright future ahead. Congratulations, Sy’rai!
