BBC Breakfast favourite Carol Kirkwood has hit back at her tr0lls after facing years of abuse online.
The 63-year-old has been a staple of the long-running breakfast programme, having joined all the way back in 1997.
Despite gathering a large and loyal fan base, Carol has revealed she’s been subjected to twisted tr0lls on social media.
However, the presenter who is also an author, has said it no longer bothers her, branding it ‘water off a duck’s back’.
Speaking to Radio Times, Carol said: ‘I am what I am, and I don’t really care what anybody thinks of me.
‘And in that sense, whether I’m a “weather girl” or a “weather presenter” or a “broadcast meteorologist” doesn’t really bother me.

‘I’m just doing my job to the best of my ability and hopefully improving myself on a daily basis, whether people think I’m capable or not. Titles don’t really matter.’
Addressing her tr0lls and the ‘dreadful things’ they’ve said to her, she hit back: ‘That’s water off a duck’s back to me now.
‘Or maybe that should be heavy rain off a duck’s back?’
Carol has previously hinted that the severe level of tr0lling she receives online, telling The Herald in 2014 the accounts were ‘being very personal’.
She began her TV career back in 1992 at the age of 30, working on the former TV channel Windsor TV.
After presenting short slots on BBC Radio Scotland, BBC Radio 2 and BBC Radio 4, her first on-screen role at the BBC was as a freelance presenter in 1993.
The star then went on to join BBC News in 1998, and has since appeared across all of BBC Weather’s output on radio and television programmes such as BBC News, BBC World News, BBC News at Six.

During the show, when Carol handed off back to hosts Sally Nugent and Jon Kay, Sally told Carol: ‘Your voice nearly lasted to the very end there, Carol, well done!’
Carol then clarified: ‘I know. It’s this pesky 100-day cough. It just keeps giving. It won’t go.’
In Christmas 2023, Carol stunned fans when she revealed she married her partner Steve Randall at Cliveden House in Buckinghamshire.
She said at the time: ‘It was the most perfect and romantic and intimate wedding. We are both so incredibly happy.’
The meteorologist added: ‘Thank you so much for all your lovely messages. We had the most perfect day.
‘It was a tiny wedding but so romantic and intimate. A day we will never forget. We are bursting with happiness. It wasn’t a ”secret” wedding, just a private one.’
