Red Dwarf creator Rob Grant has left behind a six-figure sum in his will after his sudden de@th at the age of 70. The writer, who d!ed suddenly in February prior to the publication of his last Red Dwarf book, Titan, left a fortune of £932,534 after the settlement of debts and expenses. Probate records obtained by The Sun revealed the former BBC star signed the will back in 2015.
That fortune went to one person – Rob’s wife, Kathryn. Grant. She has been appointed to administer the estate, which includes all the star’s assets outside of Spain. He also owned property on mainland Europe, which will be dealt with as part of a separate will.
Rob d!ed suddenly on February 25th, with a statement declaring: “With much sadness, we have to announce that Rob Grant, co-creator of Red Dwarf, passed away suddenly yesterday afternoon (Wednesday February 25, 2026), a great loss to his family, friends and comedy fans across the world.”
His Red Dwarf co-stars were quick to pay tribute, with Craig Charles writing: “Earlier today I was informed of the passing of @realrobgrant. I am in total shock.
“He was one of the funniest people I’ve ever met. A visionary.

As well as creating Red Dwarf, Rob wrote two other TV series – The Strangerers and Dark Ages, as well as a string of novels.
He was best known for his writing partnership with Doug Naylor.
