King Charles reveals his true feelings as Prince Harry settles back into Britain — but William remains furious
King Charles is reportedly feeling a profound sense of happiness as Prince Harry begins rebuilding his life in Britain, with the monarch finally having the chance to see more of his son and grandchildren after years of painful distance.
Harry’s return to the UK with Meghan Markle and their children has created an extraordinary new chapter for the Royal Family.
For King Charles, however, the development appears to carry a deeply personal meaning.
Royal correspondent Katie Nicholl has claimed that the monarch is “genuinely pleased” by Harry’s return, suggesting that being reunited with his younger son and grandchildren is something Charles has been quietly hoping for.
Speaking to Entertainment Tonight, Nicholl said she had spoken to a contact close to the King who described him as genuinely pleased that Harry was coming back.
“He’s going to get to see more of his grandchildren,” Nicholl explained, adding that for any grandfather, particularly one dealing with health challenges, having family nearby is something to look forward to.
The revelation paints a very different picture from the tension that has surrounded the Sussexes’ relationship with the Royal Family in recent years.
For Charles, Harry’s return may represent an opportunity to recover something that was lost when the Sussexes left Britain.
The King is also reportedly hoping that the rest of the family will show the same warmth towards Harry and Meghan.
But that may be where the biggest obstacle lies.
While Charles may be ready to welcome his younger son, Nicholl suggested that Prince William remains far from ready to repair the relationship.
“I think a lot of people would like to see that,” she said of a potential reunion between the brothers, but added that she was still being told such a reconciliation is “some way off.”
William is reportedly still angry that he was caught off guard by the Sussexes’ decision to return to Britain.
That alleged lack of warning could make the situation even more uncomfortable.
Harry may now be living much closer to his family, but physical proximity does not automatically erase years of hurt, mistrust and unresolved conflict.
The timing also comes during an important period for William and Princess Catherine.
Nicholl pointed out that Catherine is now in remission and has a particularly busy autumn ahead, meaning the Prince and Princess of Wales already have enormous personal and professional responsibilities.
Against that backdrop, the prospect of Harry and Meghan suddenly becoming a permanent presence in their wider family circle could create additional pressure.
For Charles, the equation may be much simpler.
