SAD NEWS: BBC star ‘caught on fire’ as ‘hair burned off’ in terrifying nightmare blaze
An actress, who previously starred in a beloved BBC drama series, has taken to social media to inform fans that she was caught up in a horrible incident in her kitchen

A BBC actress has lit herself on fire in a terrifying kitchen incident. Poldark’s Beatie Edney set herself alight in a horrifying freak accident on Thursday 13 August.
The 63-year-old actress took to Instagram and posted a photo of her severely burnt and singed top, to show just how “dangerous” the incident was: “Hi, I’m OK, but I just did a very stupid and dangerous thing.”
“When I was turning off my hob, my flimsy cotton shirt caught fire. I managed to rip it off, burning my hair on the way. This is the result of the burning; it was a favourite shirt! Was! Be careful out there, folks.”

Her worried fans quickly flooded the comments section as one user wrote: “Oh wtf… very scary,” while another joined in: “Thank goodness you’re ok.”
A third added: “Gosh! ! You were very lucky you were not badly burnt. Take great care,” reports the Express.
The news comes shortly after the BBC recently confirmed the final stars on their 2026 Strictly Come Dancing lineup.
YouTube star John Nellis, famous for his sports-related content, and Swansea-born actress Melanie Walters, best known for playing Gwen in Gavin and Stacey, complete the cast after months of announcements and teases from the BBC.

Host Claudia Winkleman and Tess Daly stepped aside after the 2025 series finished and have been replaced by the show’s first-ever three-person presenting team, Emma Willis, Johannes Radebe and Josh Widdicombe.
The professional dancers have also undergone a major shake-up, with only 15 of the 20 recognisable faces from last year returning for the new series.
Fan favourites Karen Hauer and Gorka Marquez are among those who have departed the show.
