𝘒𝘦𝘪𝘳 𝘚𝘵𝘢𝘳𝘮𝘦𝘳’s response to the joint US-Israeli attack on Iran was torn apart by Conservative MP Helen Whately. The Shadow Secretary of State for Work and Pensions appeared on GB News on Tuesday (March 17), where she accused the Labour leader of “showing himself at his weak and indecisive worst”. It comes after Donald Trump said he is “not happy” with Britain and “very surprised” by its response to the Iran war.

He revealed that the UK had turned down a request to send ships to the Middle East before offering aircraft carriers too late. The Republican leader stated: “I think they’ll be involved maybe, but they should be involved enthusiastically.”

Discussing the tension between the two leaders on the morning show, Whately accused Starmer of “hiding behind international law” to avoid supporting the war effort in the Middle East. She began: “I’m really frustrated with our Prime Minister, with 𝘒𝘦𝘪𝘳 𝘚𝘵𝘢𝘳𝘮𝘦𝘳.

“To me, we’ve got a very serious situation in the Middle East and he is showing himself at his weak and indecisive worst just sitting on the fence.

“This is a time when we have an ally in the US. There are other countries like Australia and Canada that have been standing alongside the US, while 𝘒𝘦𝘪𝘳 𝘚𝘵𝘢𝘳𝘮𝘦𝘳 has just been weak and hiding behind international law and being indecisive.”
