Jacob Rees-Mogg addressed the latest blow Prince Harry and Meghan Markle didn’t see coming following their return to the UK. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex will not be working royals allowed to carry out official engagements now they have returned to the UK, a letter sent on behalf of King Charles spells out. The letter is intended to clarify the status of Prince Harry and Meghan, who moved back from California with children Archie and Lilibet last month. They will still not be able to use titles of “His and Her Royal Highness”, and remain “private citizens”, says the letter sent on behalf of the King by the Lord Chamberlain, a top Palace official. The couple were reportedly left “surprised” by the Palace’s latest move.
During his show on GB News on Tuesday evening, Rees-Mogg questioned whether Prince Harry felt a sense of duty to Britain. But in a scathing attack, Tom Bower claimed the couple are “disloyal to Britain”.cBower replied: “I think Harry felt a sense of duty until he married. He was led astray by a woman who had only contempt for Britain and contempt for tradition.”
Addressing the letter that clarified the status of Prince Harry and Meghan confirming the Sussexes’ will not be carrying out royal duties while in Britain and will remain private citizens, the royal biographer said, “I think it was outstandingly helpful. It was late. I think it should have come immediately. I think Lord Chamberlain, a politician by trade, I’m sure influenced the King where other staff members failed.”
He went on: “In the end, it was vital for the King to make it absolutely clear that the Sussexes’ are not going to be royals here. Their ploy to ingratiate themselves will fail. That is down to the King.
The GB News host said: “It’s very important to mention the charity part as well. Because it seems to me if they kept turning up for charity events because if they kept turning up [to charity events] it would look like royal events.”
The royal biographer suggested that “donors withdraw their support” if Meghan is part of any charity event.
He described the former Suits actress as a “dangerous narcissist and disloyal to Britain”.
“And as for Harry, he’ll be able to invade himself into some sort of military charity,” the commentator explained, “but it does depend on his conduct entirely.”

He continued: “Is he apologetic? Is he contrite? Or is he here to blow up the monarchy?”
Rees-Mogg then stated: “Friends of the Sussexes’ were immediately criticising the statement saying they weren’t warned about it in advance. Why should they be warned about it? It’s just as statement of the status quo?”
Bower replied: “Absolutely. And more to the point, his constant demand for protection.”
He concluded that Harry and Meghan risk damaging the monarchy.
The King’s letter has been sent to Prince Harry’s team, government departments, military officials and Lord Lieutenants, according to Palace sources.
In a blow to the Sussexes’ it makes clear that any engagements attended by Harry and Meghan are not to be treated as royal engagements and they will still not be able to use titles of “His and Her Royal Highness”.
