Former A Place in the Sun host Scarlette Douglas has spilled the beans on the authenticity of reactions during property show filming, insisting there’s no room for fakery.
The presenter, who now teams up with her brother Stuart Douglas on TV, prides herself on being “very open and honest” when it comes to giving feedback.
Scarlette has been dishing out her property wisdom on Channel 4’s ‘Worst House on the Street’, as well as appearing on ‘George Clarke’s Flipping Fast’ and ‘Love It or List It’.
She first made waves helping Brits chase their overseas dream homes on ‘A Place in the Sun’.

In 2022, she joined forces with her ex-footballer sibling Stuart, taking on the challenge of transforming the most rundown properties on the block.
Despite the daunting task, given the dilapidated state of these houses, the duo have faced the challenge head-on with refreshing candour.
The siblings have won over audiences with their frank reactions upon encountering their renovation projects.
Scarlette didn’t hold back, once exclaiming “I just want to leave” when confronted with a property that had serious structural issues and a musty odour.
Unlike some hosts who might mask their true impressions, Scarlette and Stuart are shaking things up with their straightforward approach, reports the Mirror.
Scarlette Douglas opened up to the Mirror, saying: “There’s no faking it, we are honest. Stuart is more brutal than me but we are very open and honest. We don’t hide it. We say as is.”

She shared an astonishing moment when a couple told her and co-host Stewart they’d bought a kitchen before securing a house.
Douglas expressed her disbelief: “Both mine and Stewart’s faces were just in shock. I was like ‘let me get this right, you brought the kitchen before you brought the house?’.
“We were stuttering. We were spluttering. We had no idea what to do at that moment because we’ve never had that before. Ever.”

Stewart hinted at an enticing glimpse into an episode of their new series aimed at aiding people to sell stagnant properties and confided: “Our reactions are priceless because people honestly cannot see why [their properties aren’t selling] and some of the properties that we’ve seen you would not believe.”
He remarked on the necessity of being blunt: “We have to be brutally honest as to why we feel that it’s not sold.”
Acknowledging the occasional pushback, he divulged: “Sometimes you get a bit of a bit of kickback and a bit of animosity. They don’t believe what you say because it’s hard.

“It’s their house they love, it’s where they live. Sometimes when you critique somebody’s personal property, it can be hard to take.
“But we have to be honest. We have to be honest in what we think because it’s an industry that we know very well.
“If we’re not honest, we’re not going to be helping those that, in essence, need our help.”

Sibling duo Stuart and Scarlette have taken their off-screen partnership in property business onto the screen, but it’s not without its bouts of fraternal competition.
Scarlette confessed: “I am normally telling Stuart off because he likes to mess around. Stu is the goofy one on set, so I am the one that has to say ‘come on lets focus’. But that’s what brings a lot of energy and fun to the sets.”
Joking about the workload, Stuart added: “I think because there’s two of us, technically it’s half the work, even though it’s still a lot of work. There are times when it gets to about 4pm in filming and I have forgotten anything we need to be talking about.”
Cheekily, he remarked: “She’s hungry at that time.”
