Viewers have blasted Alison Hammond for using her new travel series to get a ‘free holiday’ with her son Aidan.

The This Morning presenter, 49, has teamed up with her son Aidan, 19, to star in her new BBC series Alison Hammond’s Florida Unpacked.

The new 10-part series, which aired on Monday night, sees the mother-son duo travel the state in a bid to find hidden gems at a low cost.

In the first episode, Alison and Aidan rented a motorhome to explore Florida’s Silver Springs.

But viewers were left dumbfounded as they claimed Alison just appeared on the show to bag a holiday out of it.

Some wrote on X: ‘Why the f@#k are us licence payers paying for it?’,

The pair kayaked across the clear waters and took a peek behind the curtain at a buzzing Ocala drive-in cinema.

It comes after Alison revealed the poignant link between her late mum and her new travel series.

But what fans won’t know is that Alison’s late mum Maria is the person who made her think about travelling to the popular travel destination.

Speaking about her mother, Alison said: ‘My mum, who worked as a travel agent, originally inspired me to go to Florida and she was always a big part of those trips.

‘Mum wasn’t there this time, so that was sad.

It comes after Alison revealed the poignant link between her late mum and her new travel series. Alison’s mum Maria (pictured) passed away in 2020 after a battle with cancer

‘But it was still lovely as Aidan and I have so many memories of visiting Florida with her and we reminisced about things together. The trip was a beautiful time spent with my son.’

Maria passed away back in 2020 after a battle with lung and liver cancer.

The TV star revealed the heartbreaking news on X at the time and said: ‘I am dedicating this Valentines to my beautiful Mother who sadly passed away from liver and lung cancer.

‘My family and I laid mummy to rest yesterday in a beautiful ceremony which I know she would have loved.

‘RIP my best friend and Living Angel please come to my dreams.’

Alison shares the teen with ex-fiancé Noureddine Boufaied. The former couple were together between 2005 and 2014.

But Alison is currently dating her toyboy boyfriend David Putman, 26. Back in October the telly presenter admitted that her son is great at giving relationship advice
