Nationwide — An African American man in New York City shocked passersby when he was seen eating a d3ad rat off a Bronx sidewalk. A witness filmed him dissecting the rat before taking a bite, leaving onlookers horrified.
The now-viral video shows the man, bundled up in winter clothes, as he examines the rat’s carcass. As he cuts into it, the witness narrates the scene, describing his actions in real time for those around them.
Without hesitation, the man bites into the rat, seemingly unfazed. The witness gasped in horror as the man ate the rat in front of her, according to TMZ.
New York City has long struggled with a growing rat population, with the problem worsening in recent years. The city even appointed a ‘rat czar’ to address the issue, but the sight of someone willingly eating one remains highly unusual and alarming.
Officials have not commented on the incident, and it’s unclear what happened to the man after the video ended.
