Royal Family LIVE: Prince Harry ‘forces’ King Charles into ‘difficult position’
Prince Harry’s planned return to the UK has reignited debate over his fractured relationship with the Royal Family, with one royal commentator claiming trust between the Duke of Sussex and his relatives has been deeply damaged.
As Harry prepares to travel to Britain for the one-year countdown to the Invictus Games, discussion has shifted from the event itself to whether any meaningful reconciliation with King Charles is possible.
Speaking on a live edition of the Palace Confidential podcast, Daily Mail royal editor Rebecca English claimed the King still loves his younger son but believes their relationship has been placed under enormous strain.
According to English, sources have told her Charles felt “forced” into meeting Harry during their last reported meeting at Clarence House in September last year, describing the situation as emotionally difficult for the monarch.
She argued that the issue extends beyond public criticism, claiming Harry had shared deeply personal family matters that should have remained private. While stopping short of calling them “secrets”, English suggested the Duke had revealed intimate details that damaged confidence within the Royal Family.
The royal commentator went on to describe trust as one of the monarchy’s most valuable assets, claiming there is only a very small group of people who are fully trusted by senior royals. In her view, Harry’s actions have fundamentally altered his place within that inner circle.
The comments come several years after the publication of Harry’s memoir Spare, in which he made a series of deeply personal claims about life inside the Royal Family.
Among the book’s most widely discussed revelations was Harry’s account that King Charles did not hug him after the d3ath of Princess Diana, alongside other private family experiences that generated headlines around the world.
Harry is expected to return to Britain next month to support the Invictus Games countdown celebrations, a visit that has already prompted widespread speculation over whether he and the King will meet again.
While no official details of any private family reunion have been confirmed, the latest comments underline how questions about trust and reconciliation continue to dominate discussion whenever the Duke returns to the UK.
