Billy previously shared his last wishes
Sir Billy Connolly, 82, has somewhat shied away from the spotlight in recent years.
The former comedian, whose career spanned decades, retired in 2018 and focused on more artistic pursuits. And, for the past few years, he has been living out his twilight years in the US.
But the star – who is the subject of Channel 5’s In His Own Words documentary this Sunday (November 2) – won’t stay overseas forever. After being diagnosed with prostate cancer and Parkinson’s disease, he previously revealed where he’d like to d!e and be buried.

Billy Connolly makes heartbreaking d3ath admission
Billy and his wife, Pamela Stephenson, have been living in Florida since 2018. However, the star – who beat cancer but lives with Parkinson’s – is adamant he wants to be buried in his homeland. He made the admission back in 2018 in his ITV show, Billy Connolly’s Ultimate World Tour.
“I remember standing by the shores of Loch Lomond, Inversnaid, and the sky was beautiful,” he recounted. “I remember that line, I forget whose line it is: ‘Breathes there the man, with soul so d3ad, who never to himself hath said, this is my own, my native land.’
“I don’t like to look like a bagpiper with heather in my ears. But sometimes your love for the place just has to find a stage,” he explained.
“I’d like to d!e there. It’s a weird subject to bring up. But I wouldn’t like to stay away forever. I’d like to be planted there eventually – in Loch Lomond.”

Billy feels life ‘slipping away’
Previously, Billy shared how he felt about facing the end of his life.
“My life, it’s slipping away,” he revealed in 2019. “I can feel it and I should. I’m 75, I’m near the end. I’m a damn sight nearer the end than I am the beginning. But it doesn’t frighten me, it’s an adventure. And it is quite interesting to see myself slipping away.”
He went on to share how his memory “slipped away” from him along with other “attributes” such as balance, hearing and his energy.
“It is like somebody is in charge of you and they are saying: ‘Right, I added all these bits when you were a youth, now it’s time to subtract,’” he said.
You can catch Billy Connolly: In His Own Words, on Channel 5 at 9:30pm on Channel 5.
