King Charles’ “motive” behind his controversial letter about Prince Harry and Meghan Markle this week was to stop confusion, it has been claimed. On Monday, a letter was released on behalf of King Charles, making it clear that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s UK return has not changed their status as non-working royals.

The letter also stated that the couple were to be treated as private citizens in Britain, and should not use their HRH titles. While the letter did not necessarily contain any new ground-breaking information, it is believed it was not well-received by Harry and Meghan. Their team described the letter as a “surprise”, especially as the couple only reportedly heard about it just before it was made public.

It is believed Harry, 41, and Meghan, 45, are also not happy about the fact they are to be known as private citizens, with reports suggesting they want to be known as public figures.

As well as Harry and Meghan being unhappy with the letter, it seems to have caused wider issues too, with Uganda even pulling out of the Invictus Games 2027 competition – founded by Prince Harry – as they do not want to do anything to upset the country’s relationship with King Charles.

While the whole week since the letter has now become a public saga, it is believed this is not what the monarch wanted.

Instead, he wanted to simply make things clear and avoid confusion, with this reportedly being the motive behind making the letter to government officials public in the first place.

King Charles has sent a clear message to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle following their decision to relocate back to United Kingdom.

A source told US Weekly: “With them moving back to the U.K., it’s been confusing.

“Charles wrote a letter to clarify they are not working royals and they are considered private citizens so there is no confusion.

“The king just wanted the public and press not to be confused. They can’t be one foot in and one foot out.”

It is not known whether King Charles has seen Harry since he relocated back to Britain with his wife and children just weeks ago.
