This Morning viewers were left less than impressed when Dermot O’Leary and Alison Hammond were joined by guest Hannah, who married the River Avon.
Speaking on her wedding to the English river, located in Bristol, Megan said: “It was a really magical day. People say it’s the best day of their lives and it definitely was for me.” Before her wedding, Megan had never attended one herself.
Despite being married to the river, Megan informed the hosts that she hadn’t legally taken her husbands name as the “paperwork seemed a bit long.” Although, the writer does use it as her stage name when performing her poems on stage.

Megan spoke about her marriage to the River Avon
Further speaking on their relationship, Megan said it was an “open relationship” between the two. “I don’t often get jealous. I love going to the river and seeing lots of people going near the river. I’ve been going on tour recently and I’ve been swimming in a lot of other rivers, and I don’t think that they’re jealous of that.”
However, viewers weren’t as excited as Megan was as they took to X, formerly known as Twitter to complain about the segment. “Almost choked on my breakfast . LMAO married to a river ??? #thismorning,” penned one, while another said: “Just remembered why I stopped watching #thismorning.”

A third viewer wrote: “River wife is making valid points about water safety. What a shame that they will go practically unnoticed,” while a fourth penned: “‘we meet the woman who married a river’ That’s enough morning TV for me #ThisMorning.”
Speaking on her marriage choice, Megan explained how she grew up near the river and always thought the Avon was too dangerous and dirty to swim in. An avid wild swimmer, Megan became passionate about sewage pollution in rivers.
She continued: “Water is an essential part of life. I think just as it’s a human right to have access to clean drinking water, it’s a human right to have access to water that you can swim in and be in to improve your mental and physical well-being.”
