It is day 12 of Wimbledon, and the race to the final intensified as viewers tuned in to watch seven-time Wimbledon champion Novak Djokovic playing against defending champion Jannik Sinner. But fans were quick to complain about one thing – and it wasn’t the tennis.

Today (July 10), the BBC commentary was hosted by Andrew Castle, Andre Agassi and Eugenie Bouchard. The trio provided real-time commentary as the players competed for the Wimbledon Gentlemen’s Singles title. But many have threatened to switch off the programme just minutes into the match, and most of them went for American tennis legend Andre Agassi, who has previously coached Djokovic.

One person penned on social media: “For f***’s sake. BBC take Agassi off the commentary. His monotone voice is driving me nuts!” A second wrote: “Whoever this commentator is (presume it is Andre Agassi), his voice is completely monotonous, and I can’t understand even a single word of what he is saying. Please get someone else for the finals.”

Others said they couldn’t understand a word from the American, adding that he was “mumbling incoherently” on the show. “I didn’t think it could get any worse, BBC. Andrew Castle is enough to put you off tennis for life. Now they’ve added Agassi – the most mundane, mumbling commentary going,” a third added.

“Obviously, great insight, but really spoiled the match this afternoon with constant talking and mumbling. Had to keep muting the match as it was so intrusive,” a fourth shared. But some praised Agassi for his incredible knowledge on tennis, with one sharing: “Agassi commentating on the Sinner – Djokovic match is such a huge improvement over McEnroe, who gets a lot of the big matches. Way more in-depth analysis!”

Another wrote: “The insight is incredible. The detail and the knowledge, a huge eye opener to fair weather watchers like me.” Sinner and Djokovic were competing for a spot in Sunday’s final, with the one facing Alexander Zverev.
