EXCLUSIVE: TalkTV presenter announces exit ‘with immediate effect’ in b0mbshell statement
Mark Dolan has announced his departure from TalkTV with “immediate effect” after revealing plans to focus more heavily on the rapid growth of his independent YouTube show.
The presenter and comedian confirmed the news on Friday in a video posted on X, bringing an end to his regular Weekend Breakfast role after 12 months.
Dolan had been hosting the programme from 6am until 10am every Friday, Saturday and Sunday and described the job as one of the highlights of his career.
“I’ve been on air, hosting the weekend breakfast show from 6am-10am every Friday, Saturday and Sunday for the last 12 months,” he said.
“And it’s been one of the best jobs of my career, if not the best.”
Dolan Explains Why He Is Leaving
After thanking TalkTV management, production teams and viewers, Dolan said the decision was driven by the growing reach of The Mark Dolan Show on YouTube.
He claimed the programme is now reaching around 6.5 million people a month across the UK, Ireland, Europe, South Africa, Canada, Australia and New Zealand.
But he said the United States had become his largest market “by an order of magnitude”.
“So, the Mark Dolan show has broken America,” he said.
Dolan explained that spending time in the US while producing daily videos for the channel made him realise the project would require far more attention.
“Whilst I was away in the States doing daily videos for my YouTube channel, all of which were going crazy viral, I realised that this project is going to need my time and energy,” he said.
He Is Not Leaving Current Affairs
Although Dolan is stepping away from TalkTV, he made clear that he is not abandoning political and current affairs commentary.
He said he will continue appearing on The Daily Expresso on YouTube and through the Daily Express brand.
Dolan also confirmed that he plans to continue writing columns for the Daily Express.
In addition, he said he will remain a regular contributor on Sky News Australia, where he has a Sunday night feature with Paul Murray.
He also plans to continue appearing on Newsmax in the United States.
‘Number One Talk Show in the World’
Dolan made no attempt to hide his ambitions for the next stage of his career.
Speaking about his YouTube project, he said: “We have a simple goal, which is to be the number one talk show in the world.”
“And YouTube is where it’s at.”
He went even further, saying he wants to build not just the biggest talk show, but one of the biggest broadcasting brands globally.
“I’m a person of huge ambition,” he said.
“I don’t only want the Mark Dolan Show to be the number one show in the world, I want it to be the number one broadcaster in the world.”
“And I’ll get there, just watch me.”
Fans React to Sudden Exit
Following the announcement, Dolan received a wave of supportive messages from viewers.
One fan praised his opening monologues and wished him well for the future.
Another said they were sorry to see him leave TalkTV and described him as one of the broadcaster’s strongest presenters.
Others predicted his independent show would continue growing.
“You will smash it right out of the park,” one supporter wrote.
TalkTV Weekend Editor Dean Spencer also reacted to the announcement, writing: “Good luck, Mark. You will be missed on Weekend Breakfast.”
For Dolan, the departure marks the end of his regular TalkTV role but not the end of his broadcasting career.
Instead, he is betting heavily on digital media and the international audience he says he has already built online.
With his TalkTV exit now confirmed, the presenter’s focus will shift towards turning The Mark Dolan Show into the global platform he believes it can become.
