A This Morning star has been slammed for making a ‘horrible’ comment about the Scotland World Cup team.
English journalist and author Bryony Gordon, who regularly appears on the ITV show, has ruffled some feathers after she made an eye-brow raising remark about Scotland’s performance at the World Cup.
Host Ben Shephard started the conversation as he said: “We had Gordon Smart on talking about what an amazing experience it’s been to have the Scotland team doing so well at the World Cup. What an amazing experience for England and bringing the country together over this tournament.”
Bryony then interrupted Ben as she questioned: “Did Scotland do that well in the World Cup?” as Ben replies: “Yes, they got to the World Cup.”
The 46-year-old then smirked as she says: “Yeah they got there. True.” The pair appeared to have a light squabble by shouting over one another on air.
Ben defended Scotland as he hits back: “Yeah for over the first time in twenty years. They were disappointed they didn’t get out the group but it’s still incredible that they got here.”
The clip of Bryony’s remark has been shared to TikTok with a paired caption: “What sort of comment was that about the Scottish team. What a horrible thing to say.”
The footage has now sparked backlash among proud Scottish fans as one wrote: “And Scotland are expected to support England with constant comments like this.”
A second pointed out: “It’s no wonder Scotland can’t listen to this the English tv never changes.”
A third commented: “I’m a big fan of Bryony Gordon. Might have just changed my mind…”

Someone else fumed: “And then they say ‘Why don’t the Scots support England?'”
A fifth added: “Sorry but her comments are out of order.”
It comes after Susanna Reid made an ‘anti Scottish’ comment on Good Morning Britain ahead of Scotland’s World Cup return last month.
The presenter questioned why Scotland were granted a bank holiday by King Charles after their first World Cup match against Haiti as she implied that it was just about ‘alcohol intake’.
At the time, she said: “It’s really outrageous. I mean, how long does it take Scots to get over the fact that they’ve played their first match?”
Her remarks sparked over 500 Ofcom complaints and resulted in Susanna issuing a formal apology. ITV also released a formal statement after the backlash.
After Scotland did not qualify for the next round, Scots were encouraged to support England as they succeeded through to the semi-finals of the tournament.
However, their dream came to an end on Tuesday evening (July 14) when they were defeated 2-1 by Argentina at Atlanta Stadium.
