Nearly 2,000 complaints filed to Ofcom over just ONE REMARK – Guest Karen Millen on Vanessa Feltz’s Channel 5 talkshow still NOT FORGIVEN despite APOLOGY!

Nearly 2,000 complaints filed to Ofcom over just ONE REMARK – Guest Karen Millen on Vanessa Feltz’s Channel 5 talkshow still NOT FORGIVEN despite APOLOGY!

Vanessa Feltz‘s show has been slapped with an eye=watering amount of Ofcom complaints after a guest branded breastfeeding a three-year-old child as ‘weird and selfish’ during an ‘uneducated’ rant.

The TV star launched her new self-titled daily show earlier this year on Channel 5 following her departure from This Morning after 33 years.

However, an episode that aired on June 10 sparked a wave of complaints from viewers.

Vanessa interviewed Karen Millen, a fashion designer, during the instalment and discussed breastfeeding.

According to the Mirror, Vanessa asked what Karen thought about breastfeeding a three-year-old child.

Karen replied: ‘There’s no benefit, is there, for a child to be breastfed beyond six months really. I think it’s quite a selfish thing on the mother’s part.’

She then went on the elaborate on her views and added: ‘I just think that’s not good emotionally for that child. I mean, what does that child do later in life?

‘The attachment – like you say it becomes an addiction and an addiction for that child too because they only know the boob. It’s just not normal, is it? I’m sorry, I find it very weird.’

The instalment attracted 1,856 complaints to Ofcom and some watchers took to social media to share their views.

One posted on X: ‘Karen Millen is an uneducated t**t with an unwanted opinion. It’s scientific fact how beneficial breastfeeding is for babies beyond even the age of one.

‘It’s a mother’s prerogative on how she decides to feed her baby and for how long.’

Karen apologised for her comments through a statement given to Vanessa and said: ‘I know I’ve upset a lot of your viewers and that was not my intention.

‘The question was aimed at a three-year-old being breastfed and my thoughts on that and my answers reflected that, not the subject of breastfeeding.

‘I have three children and I breastfed all three of them up to six or seven months… I think my issue was more on the fact as a baby breast milk is the best and beyond being a baby, growing into toddler, I just found it more difficult to comes to term with how it would benefit a three year old..

‘And as a woman to women, I do respect your choices and I do want to support you…’

Ofcom also received for June 13’s episode after some viewers felt the apology was ‘weak’.

MailOnline has approached Channel 5 and Karen Millen for comment.
