BBC radio legend Bob Harris has shared an emotional and encouraging update on his cancer treatment, telling fans that doctors are beginning to get his condition “back under control”.
The 80-year-old broadcaster revealed the news on Instagram on Friday, September 18, weeks after telling followers that his stage four prostate cancer had become more difficult to manage.
Sitting outside in his garden, Bob appeared upbeat as he explained that he had spoken with his oncologist earlier that morning.
“I’ve got some news, and I’m so thrilled to bring you this news,” he began.
Bob then confirmed that his treatment will continue and said the latest medical update had given him fresh hope.
“This morning, I have been speaking with my oncologist, and we are going to continue with my cancer treatment,” he said.
“We’re getting back under control.”
‘I Can See the Pathway of My Life Ahead of Me’
Bob admitted that he had been worried only a short time ago as his health situation became more concerning.
But his latest update was far more positive.
“I know I was a little bit worried a short time ago, but everything is getting back under control now,” he said.
He then added an emotional reflection on what the news meant to him personally.
“I can see the pathway of my life ahead of me opening up again. It’s just fantastic news.”
The veteran broadcaster accompanied the video with an equally hopeful message.
“The sun is shining, and I’m so happy to bring you this fantastic news,” he wrote.

Bob also teased that another announcement is expected next week, although he did not reveal further details.
