Come Dine With Me contestants were left open-mouthed when a host revealed he was the brother of a huge soap star.

The iconic Channel 4 cooking programme features four or five members of the public as they host dinner parties and score each other’s meals over the course of a week in a bid to win £1,000.

An episode of the show saw project manager Tim cook his best dishes for Amanda, Fiona and Danielle.

During his night, he shared: ‘Something about me you don’t know, I have a famous sister. She’s a redhead.’

Some of Tim’s fellow contestants tried to guess who, but were only able to when he hinted, ‘She pulls pints on the ITV’.

He then revealed his sister was Sally Ann Matthewsm who plays Jenny Bradley in Coronation Street.

One of the guests exclaimed, ‘Oh, she’s not your sister on Coronation Street!’ while another said, ‘You’re joking!’ and shouted ‘Shut up!’

‘I cannot believe that Jenny from Coronation Street is Tim’s sister!’ a contestant said to the camera.

Sally watched her brother on the show and posted on X last month: ‘It’s been two years and I still don’t know if my brother won #comedinewithme. Finale time! x.’

In the end, Tim tied first with a fellow contestant.

Sally made her first appearance on Coronation Street back in 1986. Her first stint on the cobbles lasted five years.

She returned for a month in 1993, and four months in 2015, before returning permanently in 2016.

Sally has been involved in huge storylines such as a romance with married man Robert Weston when she was underage, and abducting Kevin Webster’s son Jack.

Her character was a former landlady of The Rovers and adopted daughter of Rita Sullivan (Barbara Knox).

It comes after the narrator of Come Dine With Me revealed a surprising behind-the-scenes secret from the popular show.

Narrator and comedian Dave Lamb, 56, spoke on the podcast, Off Air with Jane and Fi, with hosts Jane Garvey and Fi Glover, sharing his insider knowledge of the show.

He is known for his comical quips when describing what is going on in the contestants’ kitchens and across the dinner tables.

When asked by Jane and Fi if he thinks he’s ever crossed the line with his witty remarks, Dave revealed that everything he says is actually scripted – and in fact, he’s the one to reign the comments in.
