New York Yankees Add Two MLB All-Star Players From The St. Louis Cardinals In Blockbuster Trade Proposal That Would Turn The League On Its Head

The New York Yankees are currently evaluating potential trades to address key needs in their roster. Their infield worry started right after Gerrit Cole was sidelined with a recent injury.
According to Zach Pressnell of FanSided, a feasible solution could involve acquiring both Sonny Gray and Nolan Arenado from the St. Louis Cardinals. While they need an immediate solution and a long-term investment, Yankees management will have to gallop some salary weight.
Pressnell highlighted that while the Yankees are interested in Arenado, several factors complicate a potential deal. General Manager Brian Cashman has shown reluctance to absorb a large portion of Arenado’s salary. And the player’s no-trade clause only adds to the difficulty.
“The Yankees could also look to reunite with starting pitcher Sonny Gray as a replacement for Cole. Gray has been excellent for the last few seasons, and the righty would provide a stable starter in a rotation of question marks. But what would a blockbuster deal look like in this situation?” Pressnell wrote.
“In this deal, the Yankees would land Gray and Arenado. Here’s the catch. Cashman would likely need to eat most of, if not the entirety, of both Arenado’s and Gray’s contracts,” he concluded.
On the pitching front, Sonny Gray has emerged as a strong candidate to fill in for the injured Cole. Gray has been thriving since leaving the Yankees, but there are lingering doubts about whether he can replicate that success in New York.

Although he had earlier struggles with the team, Pressnell’s proposed trade could potentially allow the Yankees to retain most of their top prospects. And in return, it’s only parting with a few lower-tier ones, should they choose to proceed despite the financial burden.

While the situation at the Yanks camp is already concerning, Paul Goldschmidt recently got his fans worried. Goldschmidt left the Yankees’ game against the Blue Jays due to a sore back after just two at-bats.
Although he expressed confidence about being ready for Opening Day and said he has zero concerns about making it to the Opening Day. Despite not finishing the game, he was performing well up to that point. He had a 0-for-1 stat line with a walk and a notable catch in the second inning.
Manager Aaron Boone made the decision to replace him defensively after witnessing the longer than usual innings. Goldschmidt mentioned he’s been dealing with his back issue for several days but assured that it wasn’t worse.
Additionally, Yoendrys Gomez continued to show promise in his bid for a roster spot with a strong performance on the mound. He pitched scoreless innings and increased his velocity, which has reportedly improved since last year. The Yankees are evaluating their roster as they prepare for the season, with the bullpen needing much consideration.
