Kirstie Allsopp rushed to hospital after terrifying fall as TV star reveals dramatic rescue from beach
Location, Location, Location presenter Kirstie Allsopp has revealed she was rushed to hospital after a terrifying fall on a steep coastal path left her needing an extraordinary rescue involving lifeboat paramedics and an air ambulance.
The television presenter, who recently celebrated her 55th birthday, was enjoying time at one of her favourite places in Devon when disaster struck.
Kirstie later shared dramatic photographs from her ordeal, showing herself lying on a hospital trolley with a cannula in her nose before another image revealed her recovering in a hospital bed with her injured leg in a cast.
The TV star explained that she had been swimming at Welcombe Mouth when she slipped on mud while attempting to make her way back up the steep path from the beach.
What followed was a major rescue operation.
Kirstie said it took “a whole host of people” to get her safely to hospital, with RNLI Bude Lifeboat paramedics and Cornwall Air Ambulance among those involved.
The air ambulance crew reportedly used What3Words to pinpoint her location before she could be brought to safety.
The presenter admitted she was given a “huge amount of painkillers” during the ordeal and was left unable to remember the names or social media details of many of the people who came to her aid.
By the time she was transported to Barnstaple Hospital, Kirstie joked that she was “high as a kite” after the medication.
But behind the humour was a frightening experience.
Kirstie required surgery on her leg and is now facing a period of recovery using crutches and a protective boot.
Despite the severity of the accident, she remained hugely grateful to the emergency crews and hospital staff who treated her.
Describing the medical team as “amazing, kind and caring”, Kirstie said she was “very, very lucky” to have been rescued and taken to safety so quickly.
Her followers were quick to flood social media with messages of support after she revealed what had happened.
Television star Jools Holland was among those sending his best wishes, writing: “Poor you, get well soon.”
Another fan wished Kirstie a speedy recovery, while others expressed their relief that she had been rescued after the frightening accident.
The presenter’s ordeal serves as a stark reminder of how quickly a relaxing day by the coast can turn into a life-threatening emergency.
For Kirstie, however, the focus now is firmly on recovery — and on getting back on her feet after what she described as an incredibly lucky escape.
